When can you start booking for 2013?

I thought you could book at least a room only reservation a year out--is that not accurate? The website won't allow it. So when will I be able to book and start paying off a trip for Spring Break 2013 which would be middle of March for us.

Room only reservations usually start towards the end of July. Packages will be opened up sometime in August. This has been true for our last 2 trips.

We were able to book a package in August of 2006 for a trip in April 2007. Also, we booked in August of 2009 for our December 2010 trip.

Do you happen to remember when the free dining was announced or extended for Spring Break this year? I wish I could have taken advantage of it. Is that normal for free dining to be offered during spring break time? I thought it was typically for fall thru december?

Room only can be booked 499 days out, so a room for March 2013 can be booked now by calling. You will be quoted the highest rate for 2012 and your ressie will be adjusted once the 2013 rates are released. A deposit of 1 night's room + tax will be required, with the balance due at check in. New rates usually come out in August, however, the 2012 rates were released in early to mid June 2011. If you want to book a package or book online, you have to wait until the 2013 rates come out. Keep in mind that if you book room only now and want to change to a package later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit, as money paid toward one cannot be transferred to the other.

As far as free dining, mid August through September is typical for that promo as that's a slow time of year with school starting and it's hurricane season. Disney releases discounts to fill rooms and although free dining is not typical during March as that's peak season, it has been offered in the past as an incentive for people to book as bookings were probably down due to the economy, etc. Whether or not free dining or any other discount will be offered for that time next year is anybody's guess.

In 2011, packages for the following year were available to be booked in June, and ticket prices also increased at that time.
