When can I request a certain loop?

Hi everyone :yay:

We are going to Fort Wilderness for the first time, Feb 14-19th 2011. Actually, it is our first trip to Disney (we have gone for a couple hours to Epcot, when visiting family once). We booked a partial site, since we are tent camping.

Looking at maps, I'm thinking the 1500 loop might be best for our family? We are me, dh, kids ages 14, 12, 10, 7 (oldest will be at college so can't come). We'd prefer to be closer in rather than farther out.

Can I call and ask for that on my reservation? Is it too soon?

You can request a loop now.

But, most of us believe that it doesn't do much good to request a loop until about five days before you arrive, which is when campsites are actually assigned.

As you may know, there are only two loops with partial campsites. The 1500 loop is much smaller than the 2000 loop, so it is more likely that you will be assigned to the 2000 loop than the 1500 loop.

President's Day is on Monday, February 21 in 2011, so you will be leaving just as that weekend begins. President's Day weekend is one of the busy ones at the Fort. Since you are arriving before then, I would say you have a pretty good chance of getting a site on 1500.

So, go ahead and call and ask them to note this request on your reservation, but be sure to follow up with a fax request five days before you arrive.

Thank you! :) This is helpful information, which I will follow.

Our kids' schools usually take off the week that President's Day is actually in, but this coming up year, it's the week before, oddly enough. It does save me some $$$ though!

I agree with TCD and don't forget when you get to your site and for some reason you aren't happy with it, it can be changed. Just go to the phone and call or go back to the outpost.

Our m.o. is to note our request on our reservation and then fax it about 4-5 days before we arrive. So far we're 3 for 3, but then we go during a fairly quiet time of year too.

My whole family is planning to come to the Fort this coming June and are getting ready to make our initial reservation. How do we go about getting two sites next to one another. My campsite will have the maximum amount of people in it and the rest of my family (mom, 2 brothers, sister-in-law and 4 neices and nephews are coming along for the first time) and we all want to be close. Does Disney do such as this and yes we will be considered a Magical Gathering and we aren't even sure what goes along with that...Any help from the Fort Masters would be appreciated! Thanks!

I would book both sites under 1 reservation and everytime you speak with reservations, make sure you mention that you want them together.

I would recommend contacting rhonda@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com to make your reservations. She is really good at booking the campground and getting the requests in.

Also, at 5 days out send a fax in reminding them that the two sites are linked and you would like to be close together.
