I am doing an adult only trip with my husband. We are staying in the Value studio at AKL( I had limited points left:rolleyes1 ). We are staying off site on Saturday, hopefully at Gaylord Palms. Anyway since it is an adult only trip, We will be up later and sleeping in later. I want to check -in early to request a savannah view ( I know it is only a request), but I did not want to get up at 6 am to do so. Can we check -in after Midnight and go back to our hotel? I know we will not have a room until the next afternoon, but I wanted to get my request in and it is technically that day.:confused3 Thanks for any info.:goodvibes

Nope, right after midnight will be the day before. You won't be able to check in until about 6AM. Your room may not be ready until after 4PM. Make sure that MS has your request on file.

To make requests, the best tactic is to make the request at the time your first make the booking. I would call MS now and add your request. Then I would check in whenever you arrive at the resort. Early doesn't necessariloy mean you get the request. In fact, sometimes it can be a determent.

Just curious. How would it be a detriment? (I learn something new here everyday.:) )

Is it because a room that does have a savannah view may not be available at the time? If this is the case, could the OP just request it at check in at 6am and say that they are willing to wait for the next available savannah view? Would that make a difference?:confused3

I was wondering the same, like I posted earlier.. I do not want a room, I have been to disney enough to know I am not getting a room until 4, I just want to kindly make a request. I have the request in the computer and will be fine if I do not get it.. just wanted to increase my chance.:flower3:

Sometimes the room assignments are made several hours before your check in date. It depends on the resort. You should make your request with MS. On the day of your check in, you can discuss your request again with the Front Desk CM. They will assign you a room and have you call later in the day to get the number after it is cleaned. I have tried to check in at 7:00 AM before and I was told to come back after 8:00 AM.

Well, we checked in early (7 AM) for our concierge level room with a savanna view request that was made at the time the reservation was made. I knew it was no guarantee, and with only a couple of rooms with the view, I was not expecting miracles. The problem was that, of course my room was not ready at that hour. Others checked in later in the day and were given the Savanna view rooms because they were ready at that time, and they wanted a 2 bedroom, so my 1 bedroom got pushed over to the pool view side. It was one time when I felt our early check in was a hindrance to getting what we wanted.

I was under the impression that the rooms were already preselected and if you do check in early, they will just tell you that the room is not available and to call a number. And if there was one available they would offer it to you and so you had a choice of getting that room or the one that was already pre-assigned.

I guess what I'm saying is that I thought that your room had already been chosen and is waiting for it to be ready whether you check in at 6 am or 3pm.

When we were at BCV a few years ago, I checked in in the afternoon and was told that my room was not ready but if I wanted, there was another room available. Why would they even say that if it wasn't pre-assigned? I would think that they would just go into the system and take any available rooms at the time and say, "yes, I do have one available".:confused3

It's different at each resort, but I was under the distinct impression that we were given this room later in the day when we went back to the resort. The number was not available when we called the check in number.

In the past when we have checked in and the room was not available yet, they would check us in and give our key cards without room numbers. They ask you to call later to find out if it's available and they will give you the room number then. They said that the key has been programmed for that one room. If I call back or go back and see if there was another room available, they would be able to accomodate me with a new room but they would have to provide me with new key cards.

A few years ago, when we went to BCV for the first time, I checked in early afternoon and the room keys were already in an envelope, inside a folder with DVC Welcome home package and ready for me. That was the fastest check in I have had. Granted, it may have been a low season and they had time to do that.

We were just discussing this issue recently because it was a good 25 minutes by the time I finish my check in on our last trip, my husband had to come over and find out if there were any problems.

I do believe everyone has so many different experiences that we don't know what is the "norm". We all have to just hope, everything runs smoothly when we get there.
