when can I book it?

I am sorry this seems to be a silly question but I can't figure it out. I have read that you can book your hotel 500 days in advance, but I have also read that you can't book for 2008 yet. Is it that you can book your room 500 days in advance but not the packages until later. Sorry I always have booked trips only a couple months before we left and I am not sure how to do it.

Well, there's some speculation that 2008 rates are coming out tonight, so this might be a moot point, but . . .

You CAN book a room up to 500 days in advance. They will charge you the 2007 rate, and then when 2008 rates come out they charge you the difference. When the 2008 rates come out you can also call and change your "room only" reservation to a package if you wish.

HTH - I'm no veteran, but this is the second time we made a room only reservation before the new rates were posted. Good luck!

Okay, now to the question. You can book a room only reservation right now. You'll be booking at the 2007 rates and your rate will be adjusted when the 2008 rates come out.

You can not book a package yet. If you book a room only, you can change it to a package when the rates come out.

I've been calling WDW reservations almost daily (sometimes more than once a day) to find out when the 2008 rates will be released. During most conversations, I have been told mid-August. This lines up with the last two years. I booked our 2006 and 2007 vacations on August 15th (just days after package rates came out). A coupe of CMs have told me that it could be as soon as the first couple of weeks of July.

The good thing about booking a package way ahead of time is the fact that you can be making payments all along the way. I booked our June, 2007 stay on August 15, 2006. I paid the $200.00 deposit and made over 40 payments on the vacation. Disney doesnt care how much you pay ($20 minimum) or how often you pay so long as you pay the balance 45 days prior to your arrival. It's like having a vacation on layaway!

There was a thread on another board discussing the fact that Disney's site is down again - hence the speculation that perhaps 2008 rates are coming out. Then someone also chimed in that (I believe) more than one CM told her 2008 rates would be out "around July 5."

Surely this is all hearsay - put as much stock in it as you're willing to allow yourself. Personally I don't want to count my chickens. Yet.

I hope it's not another rumor like the June 23rd rumor. I stayed up until Midnight on June 22nd just to see if the rates would be out on the 23rd. They weren't!

Oh well, let's hope this rumor will be true.

the only thing that i'd like to add is this <<You'll be booking at the 2007 rates and your rate will be adjusted when the 2008 rates come out.>> you will be booking at the 2007 REGULAR SEASON rates and your rate will be adjusted when the 2008 rates come out... for those booking during '08s VALUE SEASON, you will likely have your rate adjusted LOWER, everyone else will likely see an increase
