When can I apply AP discount?

I reserved a room in October 5-11 at a Disney moderate resort last month. I have an annual pass and waited until the last annual pass discount had expired. The new one say within my time frame says:

"Save up to 30% on rooms at select Disney Resort hotels, valid for stays most nights October 4 through November 25, and November 29 through December 23, 2014. Book by October 3, 2014."

When I called Disney they said I could not apply for that offer. I don't know why. But when I had made the reservations last month I was told I could apply an annual pass holder discount when the date became available for the time I was saying.

What is going on here? Why can't I apply that discount to my room?

It could be that the resort you have booked is not included in the AP discount or there are no more rooms available at that particular resort under that discount. Since Disney releases discounts to fill rooms, not all resorts/room types are always included in discounts. Also, of the room types that are included, only a certain number are allocated with a discount. With that said, sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort and/or room type to take advantage of a discount as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied.

This offer is not an AP offer. It is a general public offer. I am also going Oct 2-15. I called the day the offer came out and all the rooms were booked up already. The AP offer for October should be coming out in the end of September... My guess since that is when it came out last year. I'm right there with you waiting for it to come out!

Do you have a discount now? It's possible there are not any rooms left for the general public offer. Just because you have a room already reserved doesn't mean they can "apply" a discount. There has to be availability just like if you were booking for the first time. It actually hurts to already have a room booked because if that room category is full they don't add it to the offer.

Also, this is my first time being a AP holder. So I am getting used to how it goes. I am rusty with all this. I haven't been to Disney since 2003.

Keep calling to check availability as sometimes things do open up .
