When book for Feb 2007?

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been reading as much info as I can and I’m starting to feel overwhelmed and confused. I am trying to plan our first trip to WDW for February 2007 (Feb 3-13th). I would like to stay at the WL, get 8-day tickets + hoppers, and get the Disney Dining Plan, but do all that the most economical way possible.

Could anyone help me with the following questions?

When can I make my reservations for Feb. 2007?
Do I wait until the packaged rates come out or do I go ahead and make a room only reservation now and then change it to a package to get my tickets/dining plan? Can I do that? Does it cost extra than doing it all at once as a package?

I read somewhere that room rates for 2007 were out now for the value resorts, does that mean the other resort rates will be released soon? Why did they not list them all at one time?

I was thinking about using AAA to order a package. Is this the best way (i.e. best discount) since I know I want to get the Dining Plan and as I understand it, can not do that with an AP? If I want to have Dining, I have to buy a package?

I have not joined AAA yet. Do I go through a AAA travel agent or can I use one of the other travel agents, like Mouse For Less, and still get a AAA discount if I sign up by then? If not, how do I find a AAA travel agent? Just by looking online at the AAA site?

I had also read somewhere to buy tickets before the price change at the beginning of each year in January. So can I buy my Feb 2007 tickets by Dec. 2006, and still get last year’s (2006) price?
Will that only work if I’m buying everything (room, tickets) separately?

Can I buy a room only, tickets separately, and then add Dining? Thereby making it a “package”?

Sorry this is so long. The more I read the more I get confused about the best way (cheapest) to buy room/tickets/dining. Thanks for any input you might have!

If you know for a fact that you want the dining plan, you must book a package that includes room, tickets, and dining. (Assuming there is no major rule change for 2007.)

The only way you can get a discount on the package is book it through an AAA travel agent, and you will need to be a member to do that.

There is no way to put the package together yourself and get dining. You must book a complete magic your way package.

If you are not sure if you want dining, I would say go ahead and book a room only reservation now. You can always cancel or modify it later.

I would suggest you view the DVC posts and consider renting points. I rented a studio at Old Key West for 6 nights last April. It cost me $1111.00 which is getting a Deluxe for about the price of a moderate. I loved it so much that I just became a DVC member at SSR. February is a bit cheaper than April. It is a great value. Better than any of the discounts.

I am also planning my next trip for Feb. 07. Enjoy the planning. You may want to check out www.tourguidemike.com

Also...the Dining Plan is available when you stay DVC. It is not connected to your tickets and you do not pay until you arrive!
