My DD breaks up on 8th April for 2 weeks. They go back the day after Easter Monday. My friends DD's only break up the week afterwards and so they are off the week before and the week after Easter ie 15th April for 2 weeks.

I have managed to get the week of 8th off work and wondered if most kids aren't off yet then I might have a little 'window' of a week where flights might be a bit cheaper.

It depends. Our schools are always off the first 2 weeks of April, regardless of where Easter falls. But we are in Scotland so the impact on England departures is somewhat indirect, although the limited availability of direct flights from here does see many flying out from England.

8th here in Surrey too.

Surely the flight prices are already available for April.

Down here in East Sussex they break up on 8th April as well (go back on Tuesday 26th April).

I think there was a similar thread about this issue earlier this year which showed that there were lots of schools breaking up on the 8th I'm afriad.

Luv Suzy

we booked ages ago the priced were lower till the 5th then thay shot up, it was already very full for the 6/7/ 8th/ 9 April when we booked, highest flight price ive ever paid next easter.

Thanks I missed that earlier discussion. Flight prices are out - just wondered what the likelihood is of them going down! Probably slim by the sounds of it. :sad2:

Notice that at least all the schools aren't off at exactly the same time though and there's thread over on the US boards saying that that the US schools are generally earlier for their Summer Break or a bit later incorporating Easter. I am even more bothered about crowds than I am about prices.:scared1:

My school is: 1st April - 19th April.
My kids' school is 13th April - 27th April. They are different authorities but still neighbouring. It always poses an interesting childcare challenge although if I booked WDW, at least the children's Head would authorise it.:rotfl:

our local authority has moved to always getting the first two weeks in April off for Easter, which means we're able to fly the week before. Its the only reason I can afford to go back again this year!! I did notice when we booked back in May when the flights were released that they jumped up massively from the 8th onwards.

As a teacher I'm loving the fact we're not going to be at WDW over Easter weekend which has always been manic when I've been before ... plus when I go back to work its three 4 day weeks as we'll get Good Friday, Easter Monday and then May Day off in a row!!!

We've booked 25th April to 12th may, there are bank holidays and inset days included so even though we are away for 17 nights the kids are only out of school for 10 days, the price was cheapest for these dates, two weeks before and the same hussy was 10k!!!!!! We paid £3400 with Virgin.

I doubt that prices will come down, even if they do then it'll only be by a few pounds, I've been monitoring prices from bhx into mco as we have some friends that want to come over with us and since April the same flight with continental has gone from £419 to £530. Flight prices are just such a gamble aren't they!
