When are typical blackout dates for end of December?

Blackout dates for what? If you mean frequent flyer seats it will depend on the days of the week in which the holidays fall and will differ among carriers.

If you are inquiring about FF seats, just call the airline you will be using and ask them.

typically the days blacked out are the 3 days prior to xmas day and the 3 days after and also new yrs eve and day and the day after ny eve. (I just checked my old sched from the last 2 yrs.) but it can vary from carrier to carrier. this is for FTP seats and free vouchers and sr coupon booklets as well as student fares and some military fares as well. they will alos come out with specials for the xmas holiday which are ususally for travel from dec 22-25 on outbound and the 26-29 on return.

So probably travel Dec 28, 29 is okay but depends on carrier...
