When are the parks less crowded in August?

Hi all,

I usually go to Disney around the week of August 20th. The parks always seem crowded to me, but people have told me this is a good time to go since a lot of schools in the south are back in session so the parks are less crowded.

Is it more crowded if you go say August 10th? (I'd like to go a little earlier next summer) .

Thanks,
Marina

In the past we went in late August ... week before Labor Day. But I think the parks are generally crowded year-round anymore ... it's a matter of how crowded. At any rate I'd go after the FL kids go back to school ...

We visited in August a number of times. Generally the later in August the lower the crowds. Not all Florida schools head back the same week in August. More schools will be in session by the end of the month, and families with a teacher will also be absent as they gear up for the start of school in September.

Yes the 10th will be more crowded than the 20th. What you experience in late August, that you consider crowded, is the "low" crowds of todays reality.

They drop right around the middle. You know some schools are back because resort prices drop and they send pins starting then. My pin last year started on the 17th.
Trust me, the crowds aren't that bad on the 20th compared to the rest of the summer! ;)

The last week of August. Our pictures from Main St at MK were so different in just a week a part. My girls were able to take a picture standing a few feet apart with arms open on our last day at MK. We were squeezing together just a few days prior.

This year I expected to be more crowded than usual with late Labor Day. (well, it has been getting more every year--really miss when the wait time was 5-10 mins in week before Labor Day)

As everyone says, the later in August, the better! Some counties in Florida started school this year just yesterday (August 10th), but others don't start school until August 24th. So really, the closer you get to labor day, the better off you are.

Like other have said, as late in the month as you can. Schools around me don't go back until the 24th. So anytime you can wait until school is back in session, the less crowds you'll see. Beginning and middle of August are always busy with families getting in their last vacation trip

TBH, it appears that there isn't such a low crowd time anymore, at least from what I've noticed.. Probably 29th on. I'm guessing.

We've gone late August numerous times, as you can see from my signature line. Over the years, it remains a "less-busy" time to go though if I were to compare them all, it has become more busy. We've also done Christmas and March Break and those crowds do not compare!

I just got back last night and the crowds were the worst I've seen in 10 years of going in either the first or second full week of August.

American school have little to do with it!! I was very surprised! At least half the visitors I encountered were international. LOTS from British Isles.
