When Are Points Deducted

When are the DVC points actually deducted - as soon as you've reserved them OR after the trip is complete? TIA!

The points are deducted from your point balance at the time you make the reservation.

If you cancel at least 31 days prior to check in the points will be returned to your account without any restrictions. If you cancel between 30 days and 1 day prior to check in the points go into the holding account and can only be used for reservations made 60 days or less in advance. If you cancel on/after your check-in day the points are forfeited.

They are deducted right away! If you're registered on dvcmember.com you can look at your points! I've seen points taken out and the vacation details in the system within a matter of minutes!

Just guessing about why you asked ... but if it has to do with when you can call to reserve, only your 7/11 month windows matter. Use year does not affect when you can call.
