When and were do you book your flights

VH had a 4 days sale last week to, i guess their are struggling to shift holidays.

I wonder why ..... :rolleyes1

Never known a genuine VH sale yet. Up almost £200 to £9618.62 for 21 nights at OKW next summer. I am sure they have some offers on their site somewhere to cover themselves legally but I have never found them.
Last time I used them (4-5 years ago) I booked with no sale, 2-3 days later they started a 15% off sale I was gutted til I checked the new price, more than the pre-sale price.
Who pays almost £10k(£3,200pp) for a 3 week holiday in economy seats? not me.

Oh this must be the reason :lmao:

Honestly, I have never had a VH quote come even remotely close to any others I have had. They must have some good deals because so many people seem to book with them and while a good proportion probably do so out of brand loyalty (which I cannot understand in this day and age) and ignorance, certainly not all who use them are doing this, surely :confused3

I think last year the difference they quoted me was significant to upgrade our flights to business class and still have change left over. I don't get it.

Aaah from beautiful Argyll :)

We will do whatever is cheapest. This year, oddly, the cheapest indirect is a direct indirect (you'll understand that :lmao:) as in we are going EDI-LGW-MCO. It was the cheapest by a long shot. Last year we used Continental going EDI-EWR-MCO (amazing route but too pricey this year).

We have also had EDI-MAN-MCO come in pretty well but not for a few years now for our dates.

Interestingly as we are between GLA and EDI, I always price up both and this year for some reason the prices have consistently been lower for EDI departures so if you prefer Glasgow, don't dismiss searching Edinburgh departures.

Hope this helps but please shout if you need any more info :goodvibes

Thanks vmuch i will be in touch again no doubt before i book :thumbsup2 Bonnie Oban Bay aint that beautiful right now:sad2:

cheers

Hi Paul,

We booked a Feb 2012 flight on Virgin Atlantic flying out on a Saturday and returning on a Monday, the first price quoted was around £395 but as we are Virgin Flying Club members we have the option of booking with 'Miles plus Money'.

The price of that flight reduced to £326.30 plus 2000 miles which we snapped up. Just check the flight price this morning on Virgin Atlantic and it's already increased to £348.50 with 'Miles plus Money'.

Another good reason for booking with 'Miles plus Money' is that a weekend or midweek flight is priced the same.

Booking flights at the correct time and price is not a direct science, offers do appear throughout the year and although best not to keep checking on prices once you've booked it can be a useful reference for future vacations. So always best to visit Virgin on a regular basis and punch in some dates to check prices.

If you were looking at taking a last minute flight to Orlando about 10-days ago on similar dates to when your flying out next year then you could have got one for less than £330. Today on Virgin with 'Miles plus Money" you can book a flight departing Wed 9th Nov 2011 and returning Thus 24th Nov for £348.50.

So getting the timing right and holding your nerve for the price that you're happy with can be a little stressful but exciting especially when prices of less than £350 for direct flights crop up.

Good luck Paul and hope you get the right price.

For the first time we have booked through VH but not because of loyalty etc only because it was cheaper than DIY.

We do travel outside of school holidays, and our package has gone up signficantly since the VH sale we booked, plus we got the $300 gift card.

I will say I have been impressed with the customer service via email (not needed to phone) and it is reassurng to have booked with a travel agent with reps in Florida in case something goes wrong, but I doubt it would stop us going DIY in the future.
