When and How to Make Room Request

I booked online with WDTC a good neighbor hotel vacation package. Unlike WDW, I was not able to add my room request to my online reservation. I understand that room request is not guaranteed but still I would feel better to have a note on where I would like my room to be :goodvibes. Should I call WDTC directly to add room question info? If so, when? Right away or closer to arrival date?

If I want to extend my stay onsite at PPH, should I book directly by phone to make sure my reservation would include room request, or book online then make room requests altogether with one phone call.

Thanks in advance for all your insights!! :worship:

You should make the request with your tour operator and then make it directly with the hotel as well. Then you should call the hotel a few days before and make it again, and then you should call them that morning and make it again. That may sound excessive, but as a travel agent, I see it all the time that requests can be made 8 months in advance, but it all really comes down to a few days before and the day of. If you really want something, you need to be sure that they are very aware.

This

and it helps to get there before check in time so they don't give your room to someone else because they got there first with the same request.

My best advice working in the hotel industry is to ALWAYS
call the hotel directly to discuss your requests and to confirm things. Any good hotel will want to assist you in your request and while we may not be able to guarantee things as you said , at least it will be noted down for you.

At our hotel we advise our guests to call no more than a week ahead of time for specific room type/tower requests as ours do not come in earlier than that. Every property is different so it never hurts to call and ask ! Get a name too and make sure to follow up and followup again !!

Good luck :)

I will call to make the room request now and again about a week before arrival date. I will also call to make my room only onsite reservation and be sure that my room request get noted this time. Then of course call again to make sure it's been noted about a week out.

Checking in earlier is a good idea :thumbsup2. I will try to get there before check-in time.

Getting excited as it gets closer ! Thanks again for all your help!!

Just booked my room only reservation and added room requests to all 3 reservations. The CM, Priscilla, was courteous and helpful. Now I realize that the room type I booked dictates which floor and what view I will get. I just basically request quiet room on the floor and tower I want. Care less about the view since I will be out of my room most of the time.

By the way, I was told that if I make changes to my vacation package reservation (with 6-day hopper tickets) after June 11, I cannot get 6-day tickets anymore. It will be with lesser days and at the higher prices to reflect the ticket increase in May. Glad I booked right before May 20 and I will definitely not make any changes to my reservation.

I am all booked and all excited! Thanks for all the insightful advice!!

Just want to update on this topic:

I booked my room at Stovall's through Costco Travel yesterday. Then I read this thread today. So I picked up my phone calling Stovall's to see if I can make a room request. The person on the phone at Stovall's was quite helpful and friendly. But my reservation was not in the hotel's res system yet. He informed me it usually take 3 days for the hotel to receive reservation from travel agencies. When I asked him when I can call back to add my room request, he said "call me back in 2 days." :cheer2::cheer2:
Well, I am going to call them next week, just to give a few more days. :cool1:

The travel company cannot do much to your room reservation. You should always contact the hotel directly.

Good advice!

When I paid for our package (GN hotel and Park Hoppers) the CM from WDTC added my request for fireworks view and NO adjoining room....too much sound from next room. He told me they would make the request but could not guarantee. I totally understand.

I will e-mail the hotel a couple weeks before, phone them a few days before and ask again at the front desk when we check in. We are staying at the Sheraton Park. TBH I am a bit concerned as it seems they do everything for their SPG members which we are not.....we do not travel much, so this trip is a huge big deal to us. We did pay through the nose to upgrade to concierge level so I hope they treat us accordingly as this was not a comped upgrade! I guess we will see!!!!
