Wheelchairs from bus stops to park enterance?

Just recently my mother has developed a knee problem and we leave for WDW in a month. Where can I find wheelchairs to get her from the bus stops to the park entrances for each park. from there we will get a wheelchair for her each day to use in the park. Also getting her back to the bus stop?

We will be staying at Fort wilderness and don't want to rent an ECV. We will have a golf cart getting her from our rooms to the resort bus stop just need to get her to the park after we get dropped off there.

Honestly, I suggest you rent a wheelchair from offsite so you have it at all times. I don't think you can count on having a w/c available at the bus stops to get from the bus to inside the park gates, or reverse. While it may be possible, but I really wouldn't count on it being that simple and likely to take a lot of time with someone backtracking to get a chair for her.

Since it's a wheelchair you plan to rent, couldn't it be folded and carried on the golf cart like a stroller?

Disney does not offer wheelchairs to get from the bus stop to the park. Also, park bus stops do not have seating. You will need to rent a wheelchair from an offsite company.

You will need to have one with you. They rent them in the parks, but they do not have a service to get you to the front of the parks.

Is your mom going to be ok with the buses? The current buses have very limited seating, and a lot of space for people standing. If she can't stand on the bus, it may take a bit longer to get to the parks. I know if my mom ever decides to visit the parks again, we will have to rent a car. There is no way she could balance on a bus, and there is no way to guarantee she would get a seat if we used the buses.

If she decides not to get the wheelchair rented before we leave but then after the first day or two that she wants to have a rented chair with us how hard would it be to get one while there?

from past personal experience, you CANNOT count on having anything available or that it will work.

rent from off site to have one at your beck and call at all times.

I know that both Walker and Apple can deliver on short notice. I called Walker the day before a trip and Apple a day into a trip. Walker had it ready on check in and Apple, called in the morning and it was delivered later that same day. Their numbers are in the FAQ section. I have heard of people who store the numbers in their cell phones just in case so that they have them readily accessible when in Disney.

We are renting a wheelchair from one of the mentioned companies above. The rental for over a week is way cheaper than renting daily in the parks and the chair will be delivered to our resort and ready when we arrive. They also have different sizes which is nice since my mom is so small from stage 4 cancer.

Definitely think about renting off-site (your mom can walk up the ramp in the back of the bus or be pushed, then transfer and fold the wheelchair if you do not want to worry about tie downs)

Also, if you rent off-site, you can get the kind of chair with elevating leg-rests, which will let her stretch her knee out and keep it elevated.

From the CSR bus stop, where I stayed, to where wheelchair rental was in Epcot (at least where it was the last time I was there) - wheelchair rental is all the way under Spaceship Earth - so my guess is about half a mile of walking?

And as others have said, there is not always seating available at the bus stops, and there never is at the parks, so she would have to stand in line, and would not be guaranteed a seat once she got on the bus.

I would definitely think about renting a wheelchair off-site. The ones available in park are rarely comfortable, not always the correct size (some people can barely fit in the ones they have, some people end up with ones so big they can't even use the arm rests), and they are seriously uncomfortable. Also the footplates cannot be adjusted, so if they are the wrong height, you can't change it. It may sound like a small thing, but trust me, as someone who uses a chair every day - having one that is the correct size can mean the world!

Stupid question, but does one have to sit in the wheelchair while on the bus or can it be folded??

If someone can transfer to a regular seat, then they can transfer and fold the wheelchair.
