My DW broke her ankle back on 07/19 (had to cancel my July trip to SSR)

I booked a new vacation for Sept, we are not quite sure if she'll be off
cruches by than.

Do resorts , SSR in particular have wheelchairs available for use ?
I think it would be to hard for her to get around without one

Yes & they're free! You'll have to give your CC print for security purposes but will only be charged if it's not returned.

They are first come first served.

We picked one up when staying at POR- the cm even told us that we could take it to the parks as well, but just be on the quiet side when doing it. ;)

Although each resort has a couple of chairs for use, they are first come, first serve. Also they can't be adjusted.

If she will need a chair, I'd rent one from Walker Mobility who will delifer right to your resort. Their chairs are adjstable and will be far more comfortable.

I think most hotels have a couple, like other posters said. There are a lot of places you can rent chairs, too.

If you ask this on the disABILITIY section on the DIS, you'll get much more info from people with more experience. :)

The ones at the resorts are free to loan, but there is no guarantee that they will have any available when you get there.
Over the years, some people have posted no problem with getting one. Other people have posted that there was not one available, the one that was available was either not appropriate (too big or too small) or not in good condition. People have posted it took anywhere from a few hours to a few days to get the situation corrected. A few people have posted over the years that they were told the wheelchair was only for use at their resort or that they needed to return it after only a few days use.

The Disney website part that talks about wheelchairs at the resorts actually recommends renting from one of the off-site places if you expect to need a wheelchair. If you go to the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of the disABILITIES Board thread list, there is information about all the ways to get wheelchairs (including phone numbers and links to off-site companies that DIS posters recommend). The off-site companies also will include things like crutch holders so she could bring the crutches with more easily.
If you do choose to borrow one from your resort, I'd suggest taking along the numbers for some of the off-site companies in case you need it. You might also want to look into renting an ECV fro her (motorized mobility scooter). They are more expensive, but give a lot more independence.

Westchester County- I'm the one Met fan in a whole county of Yankee fans!

Is it selfish of me to hope for a no decision, but still win, so it will happen at Shea? :rolleyes1
