As I explained in my previous thread, I have tendinitis in my foot and may have to use a wheelchair during my stay at the Dolphin in a couple of weeks.

Just wondering whether anyone has stayed at this hotel. Can you use the Friendship Boats with a wheelchair? Has anyone actually managed to get a wheelchair which was provided by the Dolphin? Any tips would be great!

Thanks :D

Hi Mazzy!

We just got back Saturday from a week-long stay at the Dophin with one wheelchair and one special-needs stroller. We were able to wheel both chairs onto the Friendship boats. :) A couple of times the boat crew had us use a small ramp at the back of the boat, but another time we wheeled right in the front. The crew will tell you what to do.

I'm not sure if the Dolphin has chairs for loan, but they would be happy to tell you if you call the resort directly at (407) 934-4000.

We really enjoyed the Dolphin - the staff there is super. We called down two days ahead of time and requested connecting rooms close to the elevator, and the request was granted which helped a lot. The only small problem we had was that we were charged for valet parking even though we showed them our handicap placard, and it took two calls to get the charges removed. Other than that, it was absolutely wonderful.

Have a great trip! :D

The Friendship Boats going to Epcot are not usually affected by changing water levels. The water levels would be what keeps you from using the boats. The docks for those boats seem to be pretty adaptable to whatever the water level is. Sometimes you can roll on without the little ramp. With a manual chair, you can always get out of it and have it lifted on.
The boat docks at MK and WL are sometimes out of action for wheelchairs/ecvs because the water level is too high or too low. If the water level is at too much of a different level compared to the dock, the dock will be too high or too low to roll a wheelchair or ecv on, even with a ramp.

Oh Mazzy...take it from me....Dolphin and the boat docks....and just darned EVERYTHING is so accessible...I didnt want for anything!! :)

If there is anything I may be able to answer for ya ...just ask! :)
