Wheelchair Rental

My wife hurt her knee and is having a hard time walking. PT not helping her at all. We leave for Disney World in a few weeks and she will most likely need a wheelchair. A few years ago, I rented one from Walker Mobility for my sister. Are they still the best option for wheelchair rentals while staying on Disney property?

I have never tried Walker, but last year rented from Apple Scooters for my Mother. One week was $150, including all taxes and insurance. It was at Bay Lake Tower when we arrived, and left it there when we left. Never spoke to them at all, did it all online. Will definitely use them again next year.

Please look @ the stickies in the Disabilities. Disney's made some changes about companies' ability to drop off scooters, establishing "preferred vendors" that can leave things at the bell stand. Other vendors must meet with their clients to receive and return equipment.

I agree that the OP should check out the disAbilities board for a list of the approved vendors. Apple is one of them- we rented my wheelchair from them in April- it cost $90.53 (tax incl) for a wheelchair for 10 days. It was waiting for us at check in and was picked up after we left.

In doing my research I found that the price for a basic chair could vary quite a bit from one company to the next. So check out a few (and check out the cost of insurance for the chair- there was no extra charge when I rented mine).

We used Apple to rent an ECV for my mom last year and they were great. Apple is a preferred vendor, as minnie mum stated. I would not hesitate to use Apple again. More info and the other preferred vendors can be found on the disAbilities board.

I rented a manual chair from Walker in May and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. I think it was a base rate of $30 for the first day and $5 for each day thereafter. Pick up and drop off were very easy.

As a traveling companion for a senior, we rented ECVs from Apple, and again a good experience.
