We'll be visiting WDW in Sept. and plan to go to Epcot for a day before we cruise out of Port Canaveral. I currently have a rental wheelchair from my ins. company that I use more and more as I wait for knee replacement surgery in Oct.
My question is...what do you think my odds are of renting an ECV when we go thru the Int. Gateway around 2 pm.? We're staying at the Dolphin so I plan to use the chair to get over to Epcot. Also, do they hold your chair in storage when an ECV is rented?
Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I'd say chances of finding an ECV at 2pm are slim to nil. Actually that might be optimistic. Really, I wouldn't count on finding one. They're in very limited supply and get snatched up fast in the morning.
If it is in September it should be a slower time. If they do not have an ECV at the IG shop, they can check with the main stroller rental to see if one is available there. If so, someone should walk over to stroller rental to get the ECV and bring it back to IG.
They will hold a personal wheelchair at the IG location when an ECV is rented. There would be no problem in returning the ECV to the IG location even if it were rented at main stroller rental.
I see that you are staying at the Dolphin Resort and that may be why you are entering through the Epcot International Gateway entrance.
You could call the Epcot International Gateway before you leave the Dolphin Resort to see if they have any to rent before you leave. I am positive that they can't reserve them. But if they are out of them, you could rent a scooter from the Boardwalk Buena Vista scooter rental area in front of the boat dock area if you just had to have one. Just a thought. They keep the scooters right there across from the entrance of the boat ramp.
