I hope that someone can help.....My brother (39) has a prostetic leg but walks great...Can I rent a wheelchair at check in and then do I take that one to the parks or get a new one at each park????

thanks!!!

There are some posters who have used wheelchairs at the parks, so they can answer your question better than I can (and hopefully one of them will be along soon to answer). There are wheelchairs available at some resorts, but they are first come, first served and can't be reserved ahead of time. You can rent one at the parks. The wheelchair has to be left at that park when you leave. If you are returning to that park later, or are going to another park, you should save your receipt to avaoid paying a second fee for a wheelchair that day.
If you would like to make sure he has a wheelchair for the entire trip, most people rent one from an off site. Here is the contact information for the sites DISers have posted they rented from.

Be sure to check out the FAQ, just click on the link in my signature below. Read about the GAC and think about whether it would be helpful to you.

Also, you should consider renting an EVC instead of a wheelchair. Those same companies will rent for your length of stay, or you can get one as needed at the park entrances, assuming availability. :)

You can get a wheel chair at OKW and BW because I have done that several times. It is on first come first serve basis, but I have never had any trouble. I have also taken our wheel chair on the plane and it has worked out nice for us.

Another thing someone posted doing once was, they tried to get a wheelchair at the resort, but also took along the phone number for the rental companies in case they were not able to get one.
We don't have experience with this, since DD has her own wheelchair, but I have read all the posts on this board.

I've been searching for the numbers to rent a wheelchair. Thanks for including the links with the numbers. We are planning to visit the world Easter weekend and the week after, and I know the lines will be long and that wheelchairs will be rented quickly at the parks. My father has only 20% usage of his heart, so walking long distances and standing in long lines can take its toll on him. He really wants to go to WDW again with the grandkids, but I feel he will need a wheelchair to keep his stamina up!! Thanks for the information!!!
