Wheelchair AND stroller?

Heading to DLR this summer with an 8 year old and 9 month old. 8yo uses an Axiom Improv 2 push chair for long distances (and most definitely for this trip), and we will also have a lightweight stroller for the baby. If we have a wheelchair tag for the Axiom (since it does resemble a stroller), do you think we can bring the other one through the lines as long as it's folded up and stored with the Axiom? Someone can hold the baby, but it would just be a lot easier to keep everything together, you know?

Simply: no. The stroller is not, in this case, an accommodation and will not have a stroller ad wheelchair tag and should not be admitted into the line. Sorry.

To clarify: things in any basket/bin on the wheelchair aren't likely to be looked at by a CM. Having a separate device (stroller) unattached from the tagged stroller(or wheelchair) is not likely to be accepted.

I'm not entirely familiar with the Axiom stroller. If the second stroller is a small umbrella stroller, and folds small enough to fit in the underseat storage basket of the Axiom -- I'd say "maybe." As long as it was folded when you entered the queue and remained folded the entire time you are in the queue, CMs aren't likely to inspect what you have in the storage basket.

However, if the second stroller won't fold small enough, or won't fit in the underseat storage of the Axiom -- the answer is "no." There isn't much space for parking mobility devices at the actual boarding area (or exit area if that's where they direct mobility devices on certain rides). Only the Axiom with the stroller-as-wheelchair tag can be brought in the line; folded strollers typically are not allowed to be brought through a queue.

Enjoy your vacation!

I don't know if this will work for you AT ALL - but depending on DSs size what about using a double stroller instead of the push chair and stroller?

Granted our son was younger and possibly smaller but we took a 7 year old and a 6 month old in a double in 2010 and we were able to use it as a "stroller as a wheelchair". In our case there were a lot of times that I would have been left to push both children because I was alone with them a lot so it was basically the only solution that worked. At that time though we had zero issues at ALL from CMs for "sharing" the wheelchair. We rented the largest model we could find and I don't recall any issues with pushing it and I remember for sure our son sleeping in it while I wandered around and everyone else was on rides.

No double. DS weighs 55 lbs already, and is too tall for most strollers. The Axiom is a jogger style push chair that should last up to about 150 lbs. And yes, I meant we would fold the small stroller and either store it underneath or hang it from the handle somehow (or even strap it into the seat when he gets out). I'm aware that the baby doesn't need any accommodations, and had no intention of rolling the stroller in. Thanks, all!

I don't think either of the bolded items will work. It would be obvious you are carrying a stroller into the line that doesn't have a tag and they will stop you and make you park it outside. While probably not really in the spirit of the rule, probably the only way I see to possibly bring it with you is fully stowing it underneath the Axiom and assuming it doesn't stick out (the cargo dimensions are listed as 19"x15"x12" which likely is not be big enough). I recognize that bringing the baby's stroller with you would be "easier" -- but it would be easier for all the other families as well and they don't have that option.

Enjoy your vacation!
