DH will be sporting a leg brace for our trip in October. While testing the gravitational pull in our home, he tore his quad tendon. He will be 13 weeks post op on our trip. He's a bit concerned about handling being jostled around on coasters and other rough rides. Just last week he was permitted to unlock from straight while sitting and walking, and sleep without it. We are about 4 weeks out from our trip.

We are keeping the option of renting a wheelchair so he doesn't slow us down :rolleyes1 and so he can rest while we are in queues.

Any thoughts on rides to avoid for him?

Also, I think I remember the walk to the park is REALLY long. Is there a place to rent a wheelchair before we get to turnstyles? We'll be at CBR.

If you decide before your vacation a wheelchair will be needed in the parks, it may help if you use a central Florida scooter/wheelchair rental company. Not having needed this service there isn’t any particular one I could recommend, however WDW does list some featured providers links.

If Universal is the only park you expect to need a wheelchair then most on that long walk has been taken care of for you. You will need to walk from your parked vehicle to the “front” of the parking deck to the Elevator/Escalator area. You may need to ride Up/Dn to the Rotunda level of the parking structure. If not close to the Rotunda you can use the moving walkways to get to it. Now the good news, wheelchair rental is available in the Rotunda. You will still have the elevated walkway and Citywalk to go before you reach the entry plaza for USF or IOA.

Thank you. We have talked about just getting a chair for the duration of the trip once we arrive. Wondering how much "pilfering" of wheel chairs there might be if we need to leave it somewhere while we are dining, seeing a show, etc. Is that really something to worry about?

We won't have a car. Will get van service from airport to CBR. Then just stay on property for our 4 days and van service back.

If we take the hotel shuttle, will we be dropped anywhere near the rotunda?

We had a little different situation two years ago in August. DD14 has had two surgeries for torn meniscus and surgery to tighten her tendons when she was younger and had a sever flair up on our second day there. We were staying at RPR and they had wheel chair rental at the hotel. I cannot remember the cost, but you might want to check to see if they have wheel chair rentals available at the hotel concierge desk at CBR. I would also check to see what the price is. DD14 did the Mummy coaster and the Forbidden Journey. Of course, I don't know if your son's leg will be as stable as hers was at that point. I hope you and your family has a lovely trip.
