Do people try to "name" you?

I'm not talking about nicknames.

They don't try to name me, but I get called Linda A LOT! I guess because Lisa is soooo hard to remember?

I tell people my name a million times a day. It's Laurie and so many people think it's Gloria. I really don't think it's a communication problem, I'm not clear or they are not hearing it correctly, or if they just assume I have shortened it. I don't know, but I get it a few times a day.

I have been told Laurie fits me, but I have no idea what that means.

I think I look like a "Tracy" as most of those I've seen are tall and dark haired. I think blonde Tracys look weird! What I don't understand is the weird spellings of my name...I can handle "Tracey" but some of them are strange...Traci or Tracie...is that really that common?

I had a customer at my old job who called me Robin for years. My name tag clearly said "Emily", but it took her 2 years to figure that one out. I also get "Amy" a lot, but that is from older vietnamese women who apparently can't say my name.

My name is pretty uncommon, Sonya, but I've never been told "You look like a Brooke/Jennifer/(insert other name)". But, I do get called Sophia alot. Sonya is a Russian nickname for Sophia, many people get it confused. Funny story, when I tell some people my name is Sonya they think I'm Russian because of my name, and I could pass for Russian looks-wise. I'm actually Spanish and German!

Yes, I am a Patricia. I mostly get called Patty. Everyone once in a while, Pat. I don't love Pat as a name. Never Tricia.

When I was a kid, if I was getting called Patricia, it meant trouble! I do have one friend now who calls me Patricia, but he sort of drags out my name so it is Pa-tree-shee-a.

I spell my name with a "Y:...Patty. I have received things addressed to:

Pattie (like a hanburger)
Paddy (like a drunnken Irishman)
Patti (fairly common)
