I'm sure this topic has been covered here before, but if you don't mind... :)

We're planning a 3-day trip to Universal in Nov., and have never stayed on 'the grounds' before.

All 3 hotels kind of look like a toss-up to us in terms of location, so we were wondering for those who have stayed there before, which one was your favorite ?

We're kind of leaning toward Hard Rock, but then again, Portofino looks really nice as well. Then there's that tropical one....heh...we just can't decide.

Comments on rooms, mousekeeping (err...HOUSEkeeping, sorry  )
and walking distance to the parks would be appreciated.

Thanks !

First off, let me say that this question is probably going to be best answered if posted on this board. In answer to your question, it really depends upon what you are looking for in a room. The rooms at the RPR are the smallest of the 3 hotels while the rooms at PBH are the largest. HRH is the closest to the parks, a very short walk but all 3 hotels are within walking distance and also have both boat and bus transfers to the parks. RPR typically has the lowest rates. Follow the link, explore and learn about the onsite US hotels.

I forgot to answer your thread's question. For us, it's the Portofino. We love the theming, the rooms are spacious, have always found the staff to be incredibly accomodating and is there a better way to enjoy a cocktail in Orlando then listening to opera singers in the piazza?
