there are a few differerent places I'd like to try: blue bayou of course,a couple places at the dlh: hooks pointe(don't eat meat, only seafood and fish) that granville55 steakhouse, the storytellers at the california and the napa rose. What's your favorite fancy place to eat? And how far in advance did you book it? Thanks again for any info:banana:  :thumbsup2

Well we love love love Storyteller's for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner! But that's about as fancy as we have gotten mostly because most of our trips are on a budget, we have little ones, and everytime I decide to try one at the DLH, it always seems so far and we end up eating somewhere else.

But I am for sure trying Hook's Pointe in April and possibly Steakhouse 55 in June! Maybe we'll be there the same night!

Andrea

COOL,my man and I will be there with our ears and will be the ones who can't stop laughing:cool1: :thumbsup2
I will definately do Storytellers now, thanks again Matterhorn:hippie:

Just got back, and here's my "Two cents": The blue bayou- food was good, presentation also good, portions good (except for the shrimp salad, three shrimp W/a tablespoon of sauce is NOT a salad). Get your ressies in at least 2 to 3 weeks early though, it's just about impossible to do a walk in. Steakhouse 55(aka Granvilles) Excellent presentation, excellent service, generous portions. For the WDW vets, steakhouse 55 is on a par with Artists point for service and quality. A little pricey, but worth it. Also, if you have some time , try the pizzetta appetizer in the lounge just outside. Ressies , at least a month ahead if possible. Also if you are interested in "downtown Disney" restaurants, try either the "House of Blues" or "Ralph Brennans jazz kitchen." Except on the busiest of nights, the DtD restaurants will be an easy walk up. as for desserts, not pricey or deluxe, but a quick walk down to the tiki room for a "dole whip" can't be beat:cloud9:

Food is pretty mixed at Blue Bayou - some of it is good, some of it is lousy. Do not order the mahi mahi. It was definitely lousy.

Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and Napa Rose are my two favorites, but I haven't tried everything yet. We also did breakfast at Storyteller's and it was a great breakfast - so I would definitely believe what other people say about it.

We like Ariels for the interaction.. Lilo and Stitch as the food is good.

Also the chicken strips are quite good. Burger Invasion at DCA for Mc Donalds.

Then my favorite Club 33. Only been once so far.

I would say Blue Bayou, we are going May 1st (haven't been there in 5 years!) Ralph Brennan Pizza Kitchen in my opinion is way over priced and our food was just plain , but everyone here seems to like it...I guess its all in what you like and enjoy...

Oh Yeah, the Napa Rose definately has my vote! it's a beautiful restaurant inside, the waiters are wonderful and attentive and the food is YUMMY! my husband and I try to eat there every time we are at Disneyland...Try it, you'll LOVE it! Have Fun! Helen

For seafood, I like Hook's Pointe. They also have the best keylime pie with limes flown in from Florida.

I take it Goofy's Kitchen doesn't count? That's about as fancy as we get when we're paying. The one thing DLR doesn't have that WDW does is a good meal plan.

I love Storyteller's for Dinner. Blue Bayou is yummy too, but I'd do that for lunch so that you can get the Monte Cristo.

mmmmmmm...I'm hungry now:love:
I am really looking forward to the food, good thing I'm going to the gym cause I'm gonna pig out down there!

Has anybody been to House of Blues in DTD? Is the restaurant separate from the area where concerts are held? I would like to eat dinner there on May 5 and would like to hear DJ Quik if the two can be done at the same time. My concerns though, are what type of crowd will be there for a rap show? I will be there with my wife and kids and don't want to do anything stupid to put my daughters in harms way...even just for dinner.

It is Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, not Pizza Kitchen. I don't even think that they have pizza. Could you be confusing with the italian restaurant - I think it is called Napoli. I have read that that restaurant is very overpriced for alright Italian (nothing special). Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen also has more than one section - downstairs might be more plain, but the upstairs dining room is far from it. However, it is pricey.

I definitely would not recommend BB for anyone who does not like meat. While the prime rib, roast pork loin and monte cristo are good, the seafood that I tried was not. I ordered the mahi mahi on a bed of spinach with shrimp. The shrimp were fine, but there were only two of them. The mahi mahi was overcooked and fishy tasting. The bed of spinach (which I expected to be cooked), turned out to be a bed of romaine lettuce, served cold with some terrible citrus vinagreitte. It was awful. My kids had the chicken drumettes with noodles. It was awful. My husband had the prime rib - it was very tasty, although certainly not the best prime rib ever and not anywhere near as good as I have gotten elsewhere for half the price. Plus, it was a fatty thin cut.

hmmm, something to think about, maybe we could do appies then if it's all about the meat:cool1:
