What's your favorite Mod resort and why?

::yes::

::yes:: Except there are 3 different themed areas. :)

CSR is our favorite mod and among our top 3 WDW resorts including all the deluxe and villas.
One + I'd like to add is the CMs are beyond wonderful.

Thats weird how I typed 2 instead of 3..LoL thanks for pointing that out...As you can see I made a few mistakes..LoL

Yes The Ranchos, Casitas, & Cabanas....

We love POR. We stayed in one of the mansions and it was located close to everything POR had to offer. We will request the same building this trip. We found it to feel newer and cleaner than POFQ, and the fact it gets discounted makes it a big winner for us.

Just as an fyi they have redone all of the rooms at POFQ. They look beautiful in pictures.

French Quarter! Close to everything. Quite. The boat trip to downtown.

Have you stayed in a preferred room? My preference is close to everything so that's why we booked POFQ but wanted to see if anyone stayed in a preferred room at POR?

The only mod we haven't stayed at is CS. POFQ is our hands down favorite for the size and peace and the DTD boat! :lovestruc We're DVC owners now so we don't usually have to worry about resorts. But our next visit we'll be using up our points for the cruise so we'll pay OOP for a room and it'll be POFQ.

I almost forgot... BIEGNETS!!!!

No. We stayed in a Garden View room in Magnolia Terrace. It was very close to the pool, the main buildings, and the last bus stop (although we used our car most of the time).

Yes, but they were redone several years ago, whereas POR's were redone just last year, and shortly before our stay there.

We stayed in Preferred at POR. It was nice - no issues - but the Garden View was equally as nice.

You will be limited to Alligator Bayou as Preferred. Mansion buildings are not preferred, except for the Royal Rooms.

POR & POFQ are equally as nice. The food court at POR is the best on Disney property - anywhere!

As others have mentioned, you can share the pools & property advantages of both resorts with just a 5 or 10 minute walk between them. Port Orleans is a fantastic resort - whether it's Riverside or French Quarter. You will LOVE it there! :thumbsup2

Actually POFQ was just redone in 2011. Which is why discounts for POFQ are hard to come by.

I stayed at POFQ in 2010 and was happy to stay in the old rooms one more time before they were changed.

POR, and we have stayed at all of the mods. I liked them all but POR is just my favorite. There is a walk to the food court from the farthest buildings but the resort is so beautiful and between the boat to DTD, the pools, the food court and atmosphere it is my first choice.
Same here :thumbsup2

We have .... Building 14 -AB. It's right next to the main building/food court and main bus stop. Staying there makes the overall size of the resort pretty much irrelevant IMO.

Have stayed at them all and here is my list in order from top to bottom:

1. POFQ
2. POR
3. CSR
4. CBR

And POR was redone in 2012.

Yes I know. You had stated the refurb at POFQ was done "several years ago". I was only pointing out it was done less than 2 years ago. Both resorts have been redone and now have queen sized beds and new furnishings.

As I said before, you can't go wrong with either one. :)

Would be interested in seeing a poll done on which is your favorite mod.

Here's my ranking

POR- beautiful grounds.

POFQ- love the compactness, not sure I get the theming as well as POR.

CBR- didn't like it. Too big and spread out. The only mod with double beds.

Haven't stayed at CSR yet.

POFQ is my favorite! Small size, one bus stop, boat to DTD and POR, queen beds, and two sinks.

I have been following the POFQ thread and after everyone's favorites more towards POR and POFQ I feel we have made the right choice. We had actually switched from AoA LM section because we just didn't want to deal with the long walks from the bus stops/ food court. Yea!! Thank you!! :)

I've stayed at both CBR and POR, so I can only comment on those two.

CBR: Nice, but huge. Busses are a disaster. Pool good if you want to spend time there, we don't spend much time at the pool, since we have a nice waterpark in our town. If you stay here, pay for a preferred room.

POR: Stayed here twice. Would say that this is my favorite mod. Theme is great and the Piano Bar with Yee Ha Bob on Tues, Wed, and Thurs is a "must do." Busses are fine. You can take the boat to DTD or go to the sister resort POFQ and use the pool/dining.

I hear that POFQ is a nice, quiet resort that is smaller. I think the next time we book a mod, we will probably do POFQ.

Hope this helps! I might be wrong, but I also think that the PO resorts are the only mods with another form or transportation besides busses???:rolleyes1

It will be wonderful which every mod you choose! Happy Planning!

I requested that location in 2010 when we went before you had to "buy" preferred rooms. Was great and I didn't notice how big the resort was at all!
