Just thought it would be great to hear about your favorite magical memories before or after you became a member of DVC. I'm sure there are some great stories here.

One of my great magic moments was when I went to WDW with DS and DD. They talked me into the Tower of Terror and the Rockin Rollercoaster. Well, my kids decided to get me on the tower and it was THEIR big thrill. My DS laughed at me the whole time while I was clinging to him. I wasn't laughing. And the time they told me that the rollercoaster on went upside down once. I will ride that rollercoaster again. (Although I'm not sure why)

Anyway, we really had a fun trip that time. I think it was because we took the time to go somewhere magical, we spent time together. Something that's not always easy to do at home.

Building relationships with my kids is always magical! :sunny:

Ours is the first time we went to the Magic Kingdom and heard "When You Wish Upon A Star" just as we were walking up. :goodvibes Also, seeing Spectromagic that first trip. (1992) There have been many magical moments since then, too many to count.

I would say each time gets better and better. But my all time favorite Disney experience has to be the first time we took the kids to Disney world when they were 6 and 7. When we got off the plane we took a real limo to the CBR and seeing everything through the kids eyes for the first time was amazing. We had some wonderful dining plan (unlike the ones offered today). It seems like we had sit down breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was all paid for in advance. Chip and dale really interacted with the kids, and snow white called my son Prince Charming. It was truely magical. Now the kids are 13 and 14 we enjoy The Tower of Terror and Rock n roll rollercoaster together. Sometimes it takes me a few trips down the service elevator before I brave the tower of terror, but I always do it eventually. Each trip is bittersweet because at the end of each trip I no when we return the kids will be a year older and I am one of those parents that just wish time would slow down.

I suppose it was when DW,DD & I rented Water Mice @
the Polynesian and raced around Seven Seas. That was
a blast! First time DD drove anything outside of her
Barbi Jeep!

I think this is truly magical. About 10 years ago my husband, 3 kids and I were at WDW for a weeks vacation. On the first or second day we are sitting watching the Aladdin parade at MGM. All of a sudden we see this "crazy lady" and her family start to wave and yell at us (parade is till going by between us). After a minute we realized it was our BEST friends from college (we were in their wedding, they were in ours) and their 2 kids. Unbeknownst to each other we were all on vacation for the week staying on-site. Although we were close friends we lived 4 hours apart (in the Northeast) and only would get together 1-2 times a year. We ended up all having a great couple of days together and still marvel at the "magic" of running into each other. It wouldn't have been any better if we had planned it! :wizard:

I have to say with the very many magical moments we've had over the past few years- for me it was the Flag Ceremony at MK. It wasn't planned, my two girls (DD & friend), and my DH were back at BWV, girls got a 24 hour bug. DS, then 15 and I went to MK because he was well and wanted to hit the mountains....on the way out, (after seeing the fireworks while on the top of Big Thunder Mountain - that was magical as well), we just happened to be walking by the flag when I noticed they were getting ready to do the ceremony, so we stayed. It was the most amazing heartfelt experience I've ever had there, and I was so happy my son was witness to it as well. Having a granddad and great uncles who are veterans, and seeing that the veteran chosen for the ceremony served in the Korean war (like grand dad), and the patriotism that this whole ceremony is about was something I'll never forget.

ooops, i believe it was BEFORE seeing the fireworks on BTMR

Like most, there are so many magical memories. But the first one since joining DVC, would be the first time we used our points.

We had already booked a large family gathering in Dec. 2003 at Coronado Springs, and decided to use some of our new points for the last two nights of the trip. The first night using DVC points was our daughter's 16th Birthday. When I checked out and back in at the front desk, they asked what we were doing that day. When I said it was her 16th and we were going to MK, a manager type said have a great day. When we got back to our room in the evening, there were balloons and a signed card for her from Minnie. Just a great ending to a great day.

The first time actually staying at a DVC resort (HHI One Bedroom) in June 2004 was also pretty magical; just a great feeling knowing we have these types of accommodations for a long time.

Peace,
G4L

DS13 & I received a Magical Moments certificate after riding Primeval Whirl 13times (w/out getting off) Aug 19, 2005. We had just come from Donald's brkfst.

Another magical moment for us was our Flag Ceremony with Ranger Stan Oct 10, 2001. That vacation turned us into DVCers!

Our most magical moment was our 'once in a lifetime trip' in 1997 (we have since joined DVc and next month go on our 7th trip to WDW )! :rotfl: We were in Magic Kingdom on our last day, feeling pretty depressed about going home. DD was 6 at the time and it was when the Remember the Magic Parade was on. We had staked out a good spot knowing that as part of the parade there were great character interaction opportunities as the parade stopped at varoius intervals. However the weater was soooo hot and the parade kept going. DD was distraught. A lovely CM came over and asked what was the matter. We explained and were taken to Guest Relations where they asked DD what characters she had most wanted to meet. Mary Poppins and Snow White were her answers. They asked us to come back a few hours later for a surprise. When we did they took us through Guest Relations to a room where both those characters were sat dressed up in their Spectromagic costumes. It was amazing, we have great photos and DD will never forget it.

Our magical moment came when my DS was 5. He had a secret crush on Snow White. We were at the Princess Breakfast at the Castle, and it was also his birthday.

We told the front staff that it was his birthday--and that he had a little crush on Snow White.

Well, Snow White came over to our table--right over to Jonathan and asked him "Do you know what happens when you turn 5?"

Jonathan answered "no".
Snow White said "You get a kiss from a Princess" and proceeded to give him a big kiss on the cheek. He tried to pretend like he was all cool---but we saw several smiles he couldn't quite suppress!!

WOW!!! That was so magical--because he was at just the right age.
I'll NEVER forget that. :goodvibes

These are all great stories! It's interesting to see all the many ways 'magic' happens! I'll share my own 'magic' experience when I was 6. (I'm a grandmother now!!)

I went to DL with my mom, aunt and uncle, and my 3 year old cousin. It was so very awesome for me at 6. I remember going into Cinderella's castle, riding the tea cups and a few other rides. Sometimes I was to 'take care of' my younger cousin on a ride. I remember being scared to go on some rides but excited at the same time. The magic happened on that trip and has never left me. And my children are infected with the same magic!! Wish I could go more often!

My dad was a quiet fellow. Hearing aids didn't help him much, and so lots of conversations were lost to him. Our sons were 17 and 14 when we took an extended family vacation to WDW. The simple trick of tapping someone on their shoulder, the "wrong" shoulder, so when the person turned around they couldn't see you, was the game my dad played with the boys. We went in the summer, there were lots of lines, you would think we would all catch on, but we didn't. He "caught us" all so many times.

It was the only time dad came with us, and we are all so glad that he did.

I have two favorite memories I like to share.

Many years ago when my neice was 9, we were staying at the POLY. We were moving to a treehouse and her stuffed bear Teddy was left at the POLY. We called the minute we found discovered the missing bear, but it was explained to us that all bedding was taken out of the room when a guest was leaving, and washed. We thought Teddy was gone. I should add that Teddy was in rough shape, missing eye, nose coming off, dirty. About 8 weeks after we got home, a big box was delivered to my neice. There was Teddy - new eye, nose back on, nice and clean.

When my DS was 4 we were staying at the ASMo. We had Big Dog (large stuffed Dalmation) and Lucky (from 101 Dalmations). We came home from the parks and there was Big Dog and Lucky sitting in a chair watching TV with remote in paw. Later on when my DS was going to sleep, Big Dog under his head, and Lucky in his arms, we heard "I always knew you were real."

There are so many magical memories that have happened over the years, but I'll relate 3 special ones here. THe first would be when my parents came on their only trip to WDW. My Dad is a big joker, and is never without some sort of quip or comeback on anything. Our group was the right size, and at Hoop de Doo we were placed at the center round table. The dancers centered a lot of their activity around our table. I'll never forget when they plopped the food crocks down on some of our plates, and my mother nearly jumped out of her skin when the crock was dropped on her plate from behind her. The best part though was when one of the girls sat on my Dad's lap and sang the part about "Here's a man from Minnesota..." It's the only time I have seen my Dad truly speachless!

The second one was also at Hoop de Doo, but about 10 years later and with a different group. Our daughter and nephew were both chosen to go on stage. One as the can can dancer, and the little guy as the woodsman.

The third magic moment will seem very common and simple, but it one that is so often recalled when we travel to Disney. Our DS and I had taken the bus from OKW to Swan/Dophin to go to Fantasia mini golf. On the way back, we had to run to catch the bus, and the bus driver actually stopped to pick us up as we were running. We took our seat near the front of the bus between the Dophin and Swan. At the Swan lots of press folks got on the bus who were "feeling no pain". The bus was packed with folks jamming the aisles, and all of them being quite raucus. Our driver "Crazy Jim", joshed with them the whole way. As we were approaching OKW (the bus was going to DTD), I said to my son, "maybe Crazy Jim will just stop and let us walk from here". Crazy Jim heard me and asked where we were walking to. I said OKW, and he said he could give us a "Disney Day". He flipped his sign to "special", and dropped us off at Hospitality House! It made our whole trip!!

On our trip last month a young couple came up to myself my husband and my 2 year old with a surprise at Epcot. The young couple asked if they could speak to my son for a moment. Being from NY I was a little skeptical. They explained to me that every year they purchase a stuffed animal at Disney (Pluto) and that represents thier trip. They buy 2 one they keep and one they give to a child. In the hopes that the child will always remeber that trip and think of the couple that gave it to him.
I thought it was wierd but pretty nice.

What a cute way for a childless couple to enjoy Disney!

Back before I got married, and when MK was the only park at WDW, I went there with a friend. We were both in our 30s. One night we were sitting on a fence in Frontierland watching the electrical parade when two girls sitting next to us lit a hand-rolled cigarette containing a pungent...substance. We were pretty astonished at their nerve, but not so astonished as when--maybe 6 seconds later--a CM in a cowboy suit and walky-talky materialized and scooped up all 4 of us. Down we went into the untilidors for a new Disney ride named "Busted!"

Things got even weirder when security interviewed the girls and they turned out to be 14 years old. There we were, out-of-state men scooped up in the company of underage minors with a...substance. Yikes!

As the park approached closing time, the girls admitted they didn't know us and hadn't shared anything with us. Their parents were called at the Contemporary and they were all asked to move out that night. As for us? The cowboy took us into an office and said, "Well, the rules require that we escort you out of the park, so that's what I'm going to do. But here are 2 free passes you can use for admission tomorrow. Next time you sit down next to somebody at a Disney parade, ask them for ID!"

Mine is this: We went to Disney and stayed at the AKL. We had not been on a real vacation in years and our boys were 9 and 5. We signed up for DVC on that trip.

The memory is that when we arrived for the early opening at the MK, my boys were picked from the crowd to "open" the MK for the day. We got in ahead of everyone else, got photos taken before opening, got a certificate showing we were the official park openers that day, got to throw the p-dust in the air at the end of the countdown, etc..... Throughout the day our boys presented the certificate to character after character for autographs and we got the royal treatment each time. It was such a thrill for them and us.

My favorite was with my DD she was 4 at the time. We were not members yet. When we walked in and she say Cinderella's castle, she just beamed. It was the most wonderful sight I have ever saw. On the same day, she was pulled into the parade by Snow White and go to dance with the 7 Dwarfs. It was so very precious. Lots of video footage and pictures. It was her first trip and it was sooooo very magical!!:wizard:
