What's your fave at Rose & Crown?

Especially if it's something *other* than the fish and chips or the shepherd's pie! Called an audible and just changed a couple of our ADRs around and we'll be going here for the first time on our first park day this next trip (late lunch/early dinner). DH will be happy with most of the menu and the kids will be fine with fish and chips, but I tend to eat on the lighter side. Any fans of the salad or the salmon? Or should I just have beer?

You can always go with what's probably the national dish of England (Indian food), Chicken Masala Curry. It's not that bad at the Rose & Crown actually. I've had it several times and it's been good every time.

Their Scotch Egg is also pretty good for a starter as well. We get them a lot when we are hanging out at the pub just for drinks.

Three years ago we had the pork loin that was sooooo delicious I had to order it again. I told the waitress it was going to serve as my dessert. They haven't had it since. I always start my meal with a scotch egg. If they eve have it on the menu when you are there-get it.

I had the shepherd's pie so I can't help you out there, but I have to agree with trying the scotch egg. My husband and I rarely get appetizers, but we were curious and wanted to try it. It was on the small side, but it was the best thing I ate the entire trip. Delectable!

I used to eat the Bangers and Mash, but then they took it off the menu. Ate the strip and fish the last several times. Glad to see they brought the Bangers back now.

The Bangers & Mash are actually very good here (to me). When I talk to the CM's I know that work there and they eat them. I know it must be pretty good.

I'd like to see a proper English breakfast on the menu :)

Even served as an all day dish, I still think it would go over well here. It's, well ... Hearty for lack of a better term. But man, OH so good! When I can convince my wife to make them, I know I have been a good DH :)

I could go for everything but the beans. What a way to start the day. Only beans I eat are Jelly Beans. The rest have that chalky feel. More of a texture thing for me. Have to make two pots of chili, one with chalk and one without. I do have to ask though, what is that to the left of the eggs? Caviar? Prunes? What is that?

Thanks everyone! Thinking I might do the salad and/or the cheese plate, unless I can get my DH to share the chicken masala with me (which is doubtful given that he loves corn beef and cabbage and shepherd's pie and potatoes and sausage and...well, you get the idea, LOL). I'm sure I'll probably sneak some chips from the kiddos, and it sounds like we should try the scotch egg! Appreciate your responses! :)

The Scotch egg was a hit with my whole family - including the picky toddler as was the sticky toffee pudding . I like the salmon entree.
