Which Universal/Disney hotel is your fave?

I have to say The Disneyland Hotel in Paris. The location couldn't be any better and it is truly deluxe. It stands directly at the entrance to The Disneyland Park and the lobby is really amazing. The staff are extremely helpful. There are 2 difeferent types of room: The Castle Club is on its own private floor and has a personal elevator which takes you straight in to main street USA, and there is a private lounge bar and most of the castle club rooms directly overlook main street usa and have their own balconies. The hotel has a lovely indoor swimming and tremendous health club and manicured gardens. The rooms benefit from 24 hour room service and the attention to detail is really neat - there are little tinkerbells hand-carved in to the wooden cupboards and in the mini bar there is a hand painted picture of goofy asleep!. The California Grill serves amazingly good food although the prices are sky high - £100 per head for 5 courses and good wine. The Inventions restaurant and has a less formal atmosphere and is more buffet-type.

Before I visited this hotel I always used to have Grand Floridian as my fave and The Polynesian. But Disneyland Paris' Disneyland Hotel easily beats them, In my own opinion.

OK you have had enough of my babbling on give your own opinion of your fave hotel.................

Well I have two faves at the moment - thought that may change after December when we stay at the Polynesian! ;)

I absolutely love the Dolphin Hotel at WDW, yes I know it's not strictly a Disney hotel, but I love it! The sheer size of the building, with interior escalators just amazes me, and the view from the room was fabulous.

My second fave is the Hotel New York at DLP - which is designed by the same architect, Michael Graves - but on a smaller scale than the Dolphin. We stayed there in January and had a brilliant view of the skating rink.

The two hotels are very similar, but I guess the Dolphin has to come out top as it is in WDW, and I do love WDW more than DLP! :D

Thanks Mazzy,

It's great to hear other peoples opinions of their fave hotels, it will help me out when I come round to booking my next holiday.......

Hi

Well as my 'home' is Boardwalk Villa's I will have to say this is my favourite hotel :D The Yacht & Beach Club always looks good too. Being so close to EPCOT and MGM is ideal.

Well Richard all I can say is whatever job you've got I want it ;) LOL you've got a great track record in some of the most envious resorts.

My favourite is The Yacht club as it's the only one I've stayed in but I did have a good look around all the other resorts on previous trips and felt that this would be the one I'd most like to stay in, given the opportunity and I was not disappointed.

Great ambience, beautiful rooms (I'm a sucker for twin sinks and marble), fantastic location just a walk to EPCOT and you get to see those fireworks everynight, you can stroll around the boardwalk, a bus ride to the door of MK and a boat to MGM.

The restuarants are good here as well with The Yachtsman and what a fantastic pool the best in the "world". I could go on.......:) :)

Thanks for giving your opinion of the Yacht Club, Sam.

I work here in England as a director of an electronics company. We take virtually all of our vacations visiting Disney and when I got left some money in 1988 (from a will), we have used that to treat ourselves to disney vacations ever since. So I am not a millionaire!!! LOL.
We call the money we got left our vacation money and it helps towards our vacations, but we like to splash out anyway! :-)

Hi Richard

Well I have only stayed at The Dolphin and Old Key West in Florida and Newport Bay Club in Paris and out of all three - I would have to say Old Key West for it's absolute charm and peacefullness.

However - for location in WDW The Dolphin was superb. We had a great room and view overlooking the lake towards MGM - but being able to get to Epcot, Boardwalk, Y & B Club was just perfect.

I simply loved the Newport Bay in Paris - the decor (although in need of a slight refurb in our room) was what I like - all New England'y and the meals we had here were superb!

But....................of those I have visited, and that would be all apart from the Contemporary............ I fancy a stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge next..............now that is some resort!!

:D :D :D

Great thread by the way!

Well, I've stayed at Dixie Landings, as it changed over to Port Orleans Riverside, we loved it there!!

This year it was Hard Rock Hotel and Coronado Springs. The weather wasn't as good this year but I think we like Port Orleans Riverside best!!

Hard Rock was great, but I think I prefer lower rise buildings where you "wander" down to the pool without dripping down miles of corridors.

We've visited Polynesian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian, Beach Club and Boardwalk to eat. I would love to try all of them, especially AKL and Poly, EXCEPT the GF. That was just too Grand for me!!

Give me a blank cheque and I'll report back!!

we've stayed at Caribbean Beach and Animal Kingdom Lodge in WDW, and Hotel Cheyenne in DLP.

I liked Animal Kingdom Lodge the best, it was just amazing - not so grand that we felt uncomfortable, but just different enough to feel really special. The bonus of having giraffes out of the window can't be overlooked either.

However, the Hotel Cheyenne really suprised me - the theming there is superb, you really get the feeling that you are walking through a cowboy town, I don't think any of the WDW resorts really transport you to another world in quite the same way.

We had a meal at Inventions in the Disneyland Hotel, and while the location is superb, and the hotel looks beautiful, I just didn't feel comfortable in there - it's way too posh for little ole me.

The next hotel on my dream wish list is the Boardwalk, and then the Poly - I will get there one day, maybe for only 1 night, but I will get there :-)

Bev

We've only stayed in one, The Poly so I've nothing to compare but it was fantastic and I'd definately like to stay there again sometime in the future. On this trip we're going to try to stay overnight at HRC on one of the Halloween nights so we can hit city walks and have a drink.
