What's your advice for rope dropping TSM with all the SDD madness?

We have decided to keep our FP for SDD (still trying to make it earlier). We still need to try to rope drop TSMM (and the alien ride if anyone wants to ride it). What's the best strategy to still get to Toy Story Land at rope drop but not be stuck in the SDD crowd?

Two weeks ago we arrived 10 minutes before park opening. Headed over to TSL and didn't experience any crazy rushes, but we weren't in the front of the pack. TSM said there was a 30 minute but really only was a 15 minute wait. After we used all our FP, we got 2 more for TSM throughout the day by refreshing. IMO, TSM is so much better (and cooler) than SDD. TSL is like an inferno with the combo of no shade and black pavement.

This past Friday we got to the park about 8:30 for a 9:00 opening. We were fairly close to the front, but we did hang off to the side a little bit. After they let us in, we dropped back some to let the rush go to SDD. We walked on to TSM then had to wait for just one cycle through for Saucers. We were able to make it to the 9:30 Little Mermaid show with almost 10 minutes to spare if that gives you an idea of how long it all took.

Yes you just stay along the left side as the crowd heads into Toy Story Land, and the majority of them head towards SDD. You can even hang back a bit if you like, don't have to be right at the front of the pack. We arrived at the park about 30 minutes prior to posted opening and we were in the first car of TSMM. We were several rows of people back in the walk back to TSL. It will amaze you how many people go to the SDD line! So ride TSMM first, then off and to saucers. We were actually able to get a second walk through in for TSMM and then on our third walk through some crowd had arrived from SDD but it was still just a 20-25 minute wait.

Stay to the left. It's crazy at opening, but I'd still get there at 8/830 to do Alien and TSM with little to no wait, just stay to the left once you enter TSL.

I would get there and be in line about 30 minutes before opening. As the crowd heads to TSL, I woul dhead to RnRC and ToT. The line there will be short and you should be able to ride each at least twice.
If you want to do TSMM and AS2, I would do TSMM first, then AS2 (as it will have a much shorter line). You may even be able to do TSMM twice.

We have a FP for TOT and RNRC for later in the morning. Only four of us are riding those rides. We can all ride TSM, so we want to head there, but try to avoid the SDD insanity.

TSM wait times have dropped overall since the opening of the TSL. On our trip last October, we suddenly found 15-20 min. wait in late evening, maybe two hours before closing time. And in the last hour before closing time, we`ve ridden TSM 2-3 times in a row.

8:30 will work, but a little earlier would be good too. My DW, DD24, and myself did rope drop for TSMM and walked on and then waited about 10 minutes for AS2. We did decide AS2 would not be worth much more than a 20 min wait :) We arrived at the park about 45 minutes before opening and were close to the front. Just stay to the left and be assertive. Most people in the pack with us were polite. I would say 90-95% head toward SDD.
