What's y'all's opinion on T-Rex?

My family will be dining there in December and I was wondering what y'all thought of it, those who have eaten at this restaurant.

It's very similar to Rainforest cafe, only right now it's very crowded. The wait wasn't that bad though. 45 mins. That was about 8:30 Sat. night. It's themed very good.

Two of my friends went on two different nights and both got quite sick from the food. They said the quality was not very good. I personally haven't gone but they're reliable people who love food!

We went this past weekend. We waited 40 minutes on a Saturday night around 6:30. It was ok. Just like the Rainforest Cafe. Food was typical chain food. Not bad and not good. I had the fried shrimp. My kids ordered smoothie shakes and beware that they are like 11.99 EACHHHHHHH.

I won't go back.

Holy dino poop Batman!!! For $11.99 for a shake it better come in a dino souvie cup or a stuffed dino attached.

We enjoy TRC and had plans on going to T-Rex next month but with those prices I think we'll enjoy TRC and just visit the Build-A-Dino section instead.

Hi,
I ate there on 10/18 at 10:30pm and had no wait at all even though the restaurant was full. We got a great seat in the "blue" room. However, the server told me that earlier in the evening that the line was wrapped around the building. He recommended to either eat very early or to eat late to avoid the crowds.

I thought the decor was really neat, the service was very good, and the food not bad at all. I've had food at the Rainforest Cafe many times and thought that the food for some reason was better at TRex.

Be aware that if you have very small children, they might get frightened by the loud noises. Someone posted a warning in the Dining Reviews sub-forum above because her small child was traumatized by the loudness of the dinosaurs.

A little OT here but are there any flashing lights there? We're arriving next Friday and are bringing a teen with epilepsy with us. Flashing lights are one of her triggers so I need to find out ahead of time. I know that RFC has the flashes with the thunder, so I guess it's out, just wondering about T Rex. TIA!

Do you think they have veggie burgers as well as regular? I'm not trying to go OT, OP, but right now my opinion is that I'm not crazy about the menu.

I have heard that they do a meteor shower and I would guess that would include some flashing lights. You might want to see if you can find some T-Rex videos on YouTube.

How about spaces at the bar? Dh and I will be travelling alone over the next couple of weeks and, in those circumstances, we enjoy snagging a seat at the bar in all sorts of places. Is the bar at T-Rex mobbed at the moment?

DBF and I went last Wednesday (10/22 I think?) for lunch, about 1 p.m. and we were able to get seated right away, and even were able to pick where we wanted to sit. If it's a place you really want to go, I recommend going during the day. When we walked past it on Friday, 10/24, it was very crowded, I would guess the wait was over an hour.

I agree with others, the food was typical chain fare, and they are going through the normal growing pains of a new restaurant. That being said, I'd probably eat there again before Rainforest, because the themeing is really cool.

I ate there last week with a 3 and 6 year old. Both really liked the decor and the meteor shower. It was loud, but didn't seem to bother either of them. I had a cheeseburger and fries for about $13.00, kids meals around $7.00. It is typical chain restaurant food. Interesting other people wrote about getting sick, as I was violently ill before even leaving Downtown Disney! It is just a to see one time and never go back kind of place. We have made the build a dino's at the science center here in St. Louis and spend about $85 on 2 dinos! Skipped it down there.

We were planning to bring our kids next trip...But I am concerned with the kids menu...where are the dino nuggets like the ones at Rainforest? I do not know if we can find something on the menu for them...But they really want to go...They love dinosaurs, love the RC, and know the TRex was coming...What am I to do

Is it true that you have to stand in line to get in? You can't put your name in and then wander around DTD for a while? I am not sure my son will have the patience for that, but I really want to take him on our first night there since I have a gift card and we aren't on the dining plan on our first night... plus I know he'll just LOVE it.

We ate there late Thursday afternoon. We were able to walk right in with no wait, and were seated in the Ice Room. I thought the service was slow, but it gave me the chance to walk around and get pictures of the other dining areas. The one thing I thought was weird was the fact we had 3 different servers for this meal. The food was typical chain restaurant food. Servings were large and everything tasted good. I would have like to be seated someplace other than the Ice Room. It's pretty when it changes color, but the kids would have rather been able to see the dinosaurs. The restaurant does not allow videotaping but does allow flash photography. Now that we have eaten there I would not return. I would recommend going during the afternoon on a weekday if at all possible. The crowds at dinnertime are very large.

I would like to try it for lunch, at dinner time too if the wait time isnt long. DH and I were there last week and walked into the restaurant to check it out and it looks pretty cool!

My family and I are blessed to live about 120 miles from WDW. Yesterday after a bit of early Christmas shopping in the outlet malls, my DH said..."why don't we try that Dino place for dinner?" We arrived about 6:30 and there was a line to put your name on the list. That was ia little discouraging but the line seemed to move fast. So I waited in that line while my DH and SSon went to look around inside. Once our name was on the list, the CM said the wait was about 25 min. Fine with us. As we made our way to the menu that is posted outside, they called my name! Not even 3 minutes after we got on the list!!
we were seated in the geothermal room. DH and SSon took walks to check out the place after we ordered. I had the lasagna(very yummy), DH had the parmesan crusted shrimp..he loved, but the portion was small. He had to help me finish my plate. And SSon had the rotisserie chicken. He loved it. We got the meteor bites for dessert and they were delish!
DSSon made a Dino for his GF at bulid-a-dino and we were on our way home.
We enjoyed it greatly. It is an incredible building with huge animals, great effects and Disneys super service. We will go back!
