So, here are two pictures from my Canon SD100 and I have more that show the whiteish haze. Is it a problem with my camera or just the environment of when I took the pictures?

is your lens clean, the haze appears to be in the same area, possible fingerprint maybe...

They look overexposed to me. Was this a problem on all pictures, or just some? That info can help us figure this out. If it is on all, then it is likely a fingerprint, a problem with your camera, etc. If only on some, then it is probably how the image was composed.

If your camera was metering the actual parade and not the entire scene, it might have been ignoring the bright sky and therefore let the image overexpose in that area. It depends on what area your camera uses to set the exposure and what setting the camera was on for that. It also looks like this was after a rain, which adds unwanted reflection. I prefer to set my camera to meter and focus on the center of the image. I set them by centering on something that will give me the proper exposure and focus and locking it with a half press of the shutter button. When it is correct, you then re-compose your image and take the picture.

Overexposure can be common on flash pictures, especially on WDW character pics because the backdrop is reflective. Picking the correct angle and distance from the subject can help this. I like to go below eye level for these to keep the light from the flash mainly on the people.

I hope this helps.

Did anyone else notice that the Mad Hatter is standing on that guys foot?! :teeth:

I did! :rotfl: But I admire the great smile he kept despite having that big green plastic shoe on his toes!

I did not notice that. The shoe curled up near the foot so no harm.

I will switch my camera to spot metering and see what happens.
