What's Wrong With Just Buying Your AP When You Get There?

If you go the route of the voucher, does the clock start when the voucher is created or when you turn them in for an AP?

We go in Oct so the rates will change in aug before we go. We usually buy the AP when we get there but this time it probably makes sense to get the voucher. Of course if the 12 months starts when we buy the voucher then it does not pay to lose the few months time.

Thanks

The clock doesn't start until you redeem it for the AP. ;)

even if you could, I wouldn't try it. There are enough complaints about CM's in the ticketing area's not doing it right or understanding the process, I wouldn't have a concierge desk that only does very basic ticketing and are usually doing other things (dinner reservations, show tickets, etc).

To me, the cost savings of the MYW to AP just doesn't seem to be worth the hassle, especially if you get one of those CM's or managers that don't understand the process.

I have several unused 1 day MYW base tixs accumulated over the years from staying resort/non DVC booking which i saved when I would have non-expiry tix or existing APs. Youngest DS going off to college this fall = time to break a few out of the vault;).

We have good luck waiting until mid-day @ MK/city hall. the CMs are sharp there and process the crowds quickly.:thumbsup2

Last year was our first year purchasing annual passes. We purchased them at MK on our first day. There was no wait (as many people pre-purchase tickets as part of a package). It only took about 5 minutes.

If you purchase in advance, you receive the vouchers which allows you to access the passholder website and Mickey Monitor online. Just a little added extra.

We bought several years worth of exchange certificates when we had money since they don't have a expiration date. Keeping registered on the passholder website we get the emails and mailings for AP discounts and perks.

I'm one that likes to "play games" and upgrade MYW tix to DVC APs. I get the MYW tix discounted through our local AAA office, get a Diamond Parking pass, and save a few bucks.

There's nothing wrong with just buying when you get there, though.

Can anyone tell me how much the savings is per person? I dislike paying more than I have to at anytime. Just went to the GAP this morning because they sent me a 40% coupon good for today....after I spent a few hundred there during the week. So I played the game and went back and rebought the same stuff. My point- I want to play the game but don't know how much it is worth?

The savings will vary depending on what tickets you buy and who you buy them from.

As a previous poster also said, I buy mine with our Disney Visa and like to have that extra couple of Disney rewards dollars for the trip. It's also nice to spread some of the costs of the trip out. I usually buy the passes for our summer trip with our tax refunds.

Is there a tutorial thread on this that anyone can direct me to? We are three adults, one child for ticketing purposes.

Mich Mouse,

I read through this thread, and related links from that thread. It gives a pretty good guide on what to do to buy from UT, and then upgrade to AP. I'm going in August, so I'm going to try it. If I can save another $80, just by taking a few minutes to use a discounted ticket then turn it in for full gate price, then I'm doing it. Once I'm rich, I'll stop worrying about saving a few bucks when I can.

Can vouchers be exchanged at the concierge desk for APs? The CM i upgraded my tickets through said I could do this at Saratoga Springs but when I called Saratoga the lady was clueless as to wat I was talking about and said I would have to go to DTD to redeem. Also - are the APs (if available) printed at Saratoga Hard plastic or the paper kind?

You can get APs at the resorts and they will be printed on the same plastic cards they use for the KTTW Cards.
