We just got back from US and IOA, of course we had an excellent time !! :teeth: but what's up with all the people trying to get you to take a survey or see a presentation ?? I actually had a guy get kind of angry because I didn't want to take his survey, he actually looked pissed ! :confused3

the people that pitch the vacation club to you in the parks should be dragged into Shrek and FLOGGED. I 'm there to have fun, not buy a flippin' timeshare. at least at WDW, the DVC kiosks are staffed by people that wait for you to come to them. not walk up and borderline harrass you.

when we were there last year, they asked us if DD could take a survey. It took about 10 minutes and she was given a few $$$$$'s, but she was thrilled. I agree, they should leave you alone if you don't want to be bothered, but DD is hoping to get asked again this year. When she saw the fruit snacks she had sampled on TV, she felt so important.

We sampled corndogs once. We watched a pilot for Four Kings and my son made $10. We have filled out exit surveys. When you've been there as often as we have its kind of something new to do. A couple of times I've been approached when it wasn't a good time and I refused without incident.

Universal allows this in the parks? We like sampling at Sam's Club, maybe we'll sample and get paid for it in US/IOA!

we did a survey for what turned about to be soda machines a couple of months ago. it took about about 15 minutes. we got 2 free drinks and $15.00 each. things like that I don't mind. the timeshare guys, however....

last october i did the soda survey.

they give you the money and you buy 2 different sodas.
then you go back and do the survey.
i got $15 for that survey, it took 15 minutes of my time and i got the soda free

then the next day, i did the survey for the batteries.
it took 10 minutes and i got $7 for that one.

the money was universal bucks that could be used anywhere in the park.

they stand around the monster cafe area and the park area right to the side of it to get people to take the surveys.

for the short time it took, it was worth it.
the place i was taken to was a/c and so nice.

i never knew they had departments and rooms in the facade type of street buildings. that's where i went for the battery survey.

They sure do. Anything from sound control to the survey rooms to storage to extended queues can be in there. Facades are neat buildings. ;)

I've never done one of those surveys.

What exactly do they ask you about?

Do they ask about thrill rides?

Like that B&M Flyer?

The first guy we saw was asking me about shampoo and mascara :confused3 I wouldn't have minded being asked about what I thought of the rides and such, but I didn't want to sit for 40 minutes answering make-up questions for 15 bucks on my last day in Florida ! :teeth: The next guy (who got mad) was trying to ask us questions on our way out of the park (we apologized and said we were on our way to the airport) so I don't know what he was trying to ask us

hahahaha.........
this is a hoot.

for the battery survey, they have 5 different flashlights covered up on a table.
they put batteries in the flashlights.

then you pick up flashlight A and turn it on. shine it on the poster.

then they ask about 10 questions on that flashlight.
is the light bright, is it focussed, is the flashlight heavy, etc.

give that flashlight back to the worker and then pick up flashlight B

same procedure.
it took 10 minutes of my time, maybe 15 tops as i yakked about the day to him while doing the test.

they were testing efficient batteries in various flashlights.

the soda test similar in a way.

e-z bucks that day

i did have to show him an id , i used my hotel key to verify my name.
the survey was inside one of the buildings by the park across from the mummy and monsters cafe.

This is just comical.

I knew it was going to be something like this.

I'd just like everyone to know, that we're smarter than they are.

My son did this last year for the fruit snacks. He got $5 Universal Bucks for doing it and thought he was hot stuff. They tried to get my neice to do it too, but she wouldn't taste them :confused3 .

It's all a marketing thing. I'm sure the "hawkers" are given a quota and a demographic and it can feel rejected if someone doesn't comply... but on the other hand they should be used to it!

I did a few in the past few years, my son really gets a kick out of having his OWN money.

Sylvester McBean, they are hawking timeshares at USf now? I wasn't aware of that.

We did a survey on a possible new TV show.
We went to a room and watched a demo (director's cut) for a TV show. It took about 45 minutes. We got $15 for it....it was kind of fun, but the TV show was strange.

I've done about three surveys (including one this past Sat.!) and I've been apporached to do an exit survey once.

The first one I ever did was for a Toaster Strudel.

The one i did last weekend was for the movie RV starring Robin Williams (just watched a trailer for it)

And about a year ago in the Delancey TV Preview Center I watched a pilot NBC was considering called NoTORIous. It was Tori Spelling playing herself but it was a fictionalized sitcom. I thought it was pretty funny. Of Course, NBC didn't pick it up but this April VH1 will be showing the series, under the name So NoTORIous.

We all did surveys and got paid Universal bucks. I did one with some kind of southwest salsa dips, my son and wife each did the one that Slacking did about RV. I got paid 5 bucks, my wife 15 and my son 5. Paid for lunch.
