4 places now have had the salted caramel involved somehow in their desserts?

I realize its tastes good but where's the variety in that?

Thats what I say about all the desserts...creme brulee, cheesecake and chocolate cake...it is the same just about anywhere

What dishes are they, and where?

I loved the salted caramel hot chocolate at Starbucks. It's the sweet/buttery/salty thing that gets me! Just something a little bit different.

I've noticed (as many people here on the DIS have) a trend towards standardizing menu's at WDW over the past few years. It seems like every restaurant has one or two unique dishes but then has the same chicken, pasta, steak dishes (with slight variations) at every restaurant (same with desserts). It's probably cheaper to do this and keeps the people who like to eat the same thing (or are not adventurous eaters) and not try something new happy.

I haven't heard of salted caramel though. I'll have to try that Starbucks drink to try it out! :goodvibes

At the Yachtsman - The Trio of Chocolate included a salted caramel chocolate cake piece.

At V&A they had the Chocolate Covered Rum Caramel w/ Sea Salt on top.

At the Brown Derby - the Chocolate Flourless Cake was topped with Salted Caremel Ice Cream.

At California Grill - The Chocolate Cake is served with 'homemade' caramel ice cream topped with sea salt.

It tastes good, I'll admit that. My husband and I just laughed about it. As all of those places are the 'signatures' and the overlap was obvious.

Anything besides another Creamy Brooly. :)

I guess it's this year's trendy food item.

I remember one trip to WDW a bunch of years ago and it seemed like every TS restaurant had tuna steak on the menu. I ate a lot of tuna steaks that trip! But now very few have it anymore.

So if you had to get one salted caramel item from any of these places, where would you pick!? They all sound wonderful!

The one at California Grill! But then again, thats the only one I personally tasted other than the V&A after dinner things. My husband had the ones at the Yachtsman and Brown Derby.
