What's with the oval at BCV? (Now with photo!)

Now that I've "seen" the oval my only comment is . . . "Beam me up Mickey!" LOL ;)

Careful! With all of the interest that this thread is generating, Disney will put up a gate and make the Oval one of the "Plus" options on the Hopper passes!

Good one E,J &H!! :jester:

BTW, tried to view the picture, but I got an error message-"improperly formatted"

OK, here's my guess although not nearly as clever or fun as any above. I think it is a future or intended garden area, that is currently just filled with regular grass, that may be intended for some of the same beach type botonical treatment that is around the quiet pool area. Only a guess from the pictures.

OK, mine's not clever, but I wanted to bump this up to the top again.
The oval is clearly designed to be seen from Outer Space (ship Earth, that is)...

Possibly they are going to move the Richard Petty Driving experience to the BCV so that it wouldn't take up so much room at MK parking lot...:D

While I was impressed with how quiet the room designs are, I'd rather not have the additional race track noise......

How about this, maybe they plan to create a garden of the DVC seal with the two mountains, etc.? They can't decide if the seal should face the road or the villas. Would it be visible from the observation deck on the top of the resort? I've seen the railing for the deck on the pictures, but didn't check it out when we were there. It's up by the elevator house on the top of the building, overlooking Epcot. It's probably just for VIPs, when people like Brittney visit.

If you believe in magic......

It's a small pond with a walkway around it. Don't you guys think Disney knows where all the sink holes pop up?

Or how about the walk way that wraps around to the service entrance out back? And it's a long way to no-where's! It looks like it will take you back out around toward the Boardwalk side of the BC and then it goes no-where's?????

Doesn't that path head towards the Epcot Entrance where you take a little black gate and your on the main crecent lake path? If we're talking about the same path, we took it and it worked fine. There's actually a map of it in another thread. Perhaps I'm thinking of a different one.

LOL! We strolled throught BCV Friday and didn't notice the oval. I can see why all of you think it strange though!

From this shot I can't be sure, but perhaps it's a hidden mickey.
There is sort of a circle garden in the upper right corner of the picture. Is the tree on the bottom right part of a circular garden too?
If it is then from the building this would look like a Mickey! ;)

Thanks!

This a great thread!

:D It's quite simple actually. If you stand at the far end of the circle facing epcot, close your eyes, toss a sprig of rosemary over your left shoulder at exactly 9:56 pm on the night of a full moon, and hop around on your left leg while singing it"s a small world, you can contact your long lost uncle harry. {the druids put it there} Sorry, I think I need help. Can someone tell me how to stop these voices?

I don't know what it's intended use is but I've decided to use it this June when we actually take the kids with us on a trip;) .

DD7, DS6, DD4 and then 8mo pregnant DW are going and had already decided NOT to go to the parks after leaving everyday last year by 2:00 to (all together now) just go back to the resort and swim. We were just going to SAB everyday, but the kids don't know this yet, they just know they're going to Mickey World.

This oval debate has given me an idea, for the price of a double stoller rental, I can just push them around the oval and sing "Its a Small World" at the top of my lungs and they'll just think they've been to MK.

Maybe we could start a movement, everyone just go out there and start walking around, pushing strollers singing It's a Small World". Couldn't you just picture it, 100 people pushing stollers singing, you know what. Maybe they'd put a CM there to check height requirements and if enough of us do it, maybe even a Fastpass...:D

This would really blow the 11 month booking window out of the water. First SAB and now the "it's a Small world" oval. People at other resorts would NEVER get in at the 7 month window. Then the guides couldn't sell another VB point and say, "it doesn't matter where your home is..."

Captainmidnight-no, this is another walkway. Actually it solved a mystery for us. Has anyone ever been walking to Epcot and you know where the water is on the right side where the boats go, and on the left you can sometimes hear traffic and buses? Well, there is a bridge that you are actually on and a tunnel is underneath. Well, the walkway takes you up to that part and it also wraps into the service are(no admit). There is another path that takes you to where you speak of, but it was dark the night we discovered this path and not wanting to go where there was no lighting we turned back. Maybe it went somewhere under the bridge/tunnel but not sure. It was a long way back around esp. when we expected it to take us around to the front of BC. Maybe this walkway is more intended for the CM's.
