SO, I just got back from Disneyland last night and well had a great ttrip :). The one thing I had a problem with was the cast members. The one in the Disney Gallery in particular. She was quite rude wanted to know if anyone had troubles like that as well?

Minnie was rude to us under her breath while we were posing for chraracter photos with her at the breakfast at Disneyland on Main Street.

I was really dissapointed.

What happened? I didn't think characters were supposed to talk at all. :confused3

They're at work & it is unacceptable. However, they're also humans to show some emotions & frustrations so be considerate about it.

They've gone through days of dealing with demanding, needy & whiny people. It must've caught them that day you're there.

Yeah, rip that mascot's head off if they talk back to you. lol! ( oh and good luck not getting thrown out of the park.)

Let me play the devils advocate. Did you get her "cm since" date on her badge? D/L has had a very bad turnover rate lately from what's been on the net. People in Ivory Towers. From what I've heard this started a few years ago.

Long story. :sad2:

It's true... many new CMs, and some older CM's :confused3 just haven't gotten it yet and aren't very Disney :sad2:

They are just people and they have bad and good days. I don't know if I could do their job, imagine, kids picking their nose, if they through up they can't help it but that is gross and what about parents that can be a royal pain in the well you know what I mean, they have a hard job cause they can't be themselves and put up with a frustrating workday at times. :sunny:

I've had more trouble with cranky cast members at DL than at DisneyWorld. It's just obvious, and my first few times at DL I was very disappointed in it because of the staff there. Now I just stay out of their way if I can. We did have one CM picking on us while we were waiting for the EP at DCA on Thursday. I don't know why she kept making comments about my kids and how we were sitting, but even people around us noticed that she was on us more than anyone else. I always make an effort to be polite, so it wasn't like I was talking back or anything. I think some other CM's noticed and finally moved her on to another job.

Most of the cast members that I ran across were new. Like 2004-2006 and I did run across a lady from 1980. But the newer ones I do not think get it just yet.

We were in DL in November 2005. We ran into two CM who were rude. The 1st was a man in the newstand right inside the gates when you are walking into the park through the arches. We forgot baby wipes and had heard from the information booth that they had some inside at the newstand. When we asked him if they had baby wipes, he rolled his eyes at me like I was stupid and said no. The second rude person was in the Emporium on Main Street when we asked for the same issue....Luckily another CM heard what we were asking for and pointed us to a great place. I can't remember what it as called, but it was for mothers and infants...a place where you can feed them or change them. It was very quiet and wonderful and they sold baby wipes!

We decided that we had to let the rudeness go and have a great trip, which we did!

I'll forgive a lot of things, but that's absolutely unacceptable. There are tons of girls and guys on the Disney boards that have been trying to get into entertainment at the parks and I'm certain there'd be someone around happy to take his/her place.

I'm sure some people have off days, but the service industry is awful and I bet Disney is one of the worst places to work as far as how customers treat them. So many people talk down to them or treat them as if they MUST behave a certain way. Even just being treated poorly all day and not one certain thing would get to me. Unfortunately, you may not be the problem but if you run into a CM right after a nasty or rude person you may get some backlash from it :(. Although I notice if they seem off I try not to hold it against the company or anything, everyone has down days and when your job is to interact with 100s of people, there's nowhere to hide. Of course a character muttering under her/his breath is quite awful.

In no way is rudeness acceptable but I can understand how they must feel.

When I was 20 my friend and I went to DL & she had this mad fascination with getting character pictures....I of course was beyond embarassment simply because she was stopping them & trying to get around the kids. The Beast & Snow White were skipping somewhere - they were on a mission, had to be somewhere you could tell & she stopped them for a pic, they were kind but you could tell they were annoyed we stopped them. This was in '97.

10 yrs later guess what this friend does? You guessed it, Scrapbboking Fiend! ;)

Just back. Overall, I think most of the CM's were fine. One lady (over 40 in age) for Soarin over Calif. seemed....ummm....my son said she should be working for a carnival. Appearance, hitler attitude in what we were supposed to be doing, etc. :rotfl: :confused3 ----- We were in some shop in Calif. Adventure and I was telling my son to take a photo of this particure painting. The CM came up to us to remind us to not take photos of the portraits....she was rather nice about it. We were sorry, did not know.....

My only experience was a rude CM inside World of Disney in Downtown Disney. She was really not nice at all. My whole family was there; all passholders and we ALL wanted to buy some collectible they were selling that day. She RUDELY told me I could only buy two, when I turned to all of my daughters and son in laws, all AP holders there also wanted to buy two each. She was openly upset. When she said only passholders could buy the items she expected me to walk away...we ended up buy FOURTEEN and that really ticked her off. If they set the rules why should they make you feel bad if you are going by their rules? I should have written a letter and complained about that lady but it was so funny when whe had to ring them all up for us...she had egg all over her face!

I've only noticed or experienced rude CM's in DL.......never in DCA. Some of them look so grumpy all the time and if I have a question about merchandise, I'm always hesitant to approach them. Who wants to communicate with someone who has a sour expression and is in a grumpy mood? Still, if a CM is pissed or upset about something (after all, we all have our off-days), they should really try to control it. It's unprofessional (for any job) and no one wants to have their day ruined by a grouch.

I also noticed that some of the employees who work for Arribas Brothers are mean....at least the ones I've spoken to over the phone or in the stores. I know they aren't owned by Disney, but still. I like to purchase disney jewelry and was looking for a bracelet. I was told to call down to the cart in Downtown Disney. The lady who answered the phone was so rude and she told me the bracelet I was looking for cost over $100. I told her that's not possible because I purchased one from them a few months before and it was only $18 (they had a whole box that was marked $18 and some were marked incorrectly at $100). The bracelet isn't Swarovski, it's glass. On a prior visit, I was told by one of the CM's in Arribas in DL that some of their employees are new and they don't know the correct prices for merchandise because no one trains them or they don't receive enough training. Terrible. :guilty:
