So I've been reading posts on BOG and just have to ask... what makes BOG so special? I've never been there before, is it worth going? Which is better, breakfast, lunch or dinner?

I've only been for dinner, but am doing lunch this next trip. Really, the highlight is the surroundings. The castle is awesome and worth seeing at least once on the inside in my opinion. Dinner was okay. I've heard lunch, being quick service, has a bit of a cafeteria feel and it takes away from the ambiance but I can't say from experience.
I had the mussels and a bowl of french onion soup. Nothing terribly special, but the castle is just really well done.

I have done dinner twice and had a great experience both times. Service was good and food was delicious plus I was able to meet the beast. I would go again for dinner except I haven't been able to get an adr.

Lunch I have done 4 times and it was better than the other quick service places but Being solo it's kind of a pain to refill my drink. Twice I got back to the table to find it cleared and I wasn't done yet. Annoying. But that is a solo travelers problem everywhere I guess.

I'm one of the oddballs who felt that BOG was nothing special. I went for lunch and was overwhelmed by the noise and cafeteria-feel of the whole restaurant. The food was decent but nothing special IMO. The place was decorated beautifully but based on the way lunch is served and the noise level- it was a once and done kind of place for me.

I'm in the nothing special camp. We went once for lunch and found it to be very noisy and crowded. The food was just so-so. The theming is elaborate but the spaces are so large and noisy its like a beautifully decorated barn. If we hadn't gone once we would probably wonder what we were missing but there's no reason for a repeat visit.

Was talking to my DBF last night about just giving up our BOG dinner in 2 weeks. We are going to be in AK and wanted to park hop to MK to have dinner at BOG, see MSEP and the fireworks. We could save over $200 (party of 3) by not doing that.

This would be the ONLY day we park hopped so that saves $150 alone right there. We'd have 3 people eating dinner at BOG that evening (we have a breakfast ADR later in the week) so thats easily another $100 for the meal.

And its one of only 3 days that week there are no MNSSHP so crowds are going to be insane to see MSEP and WISHES.

If we simply did away with those evening plans, we could rent a golf cart and play at Ft. Wilderness all evening and have much more fun, be in far less crowds, and eat at Trails End or cook food ourselves.

I have not eaten at BoG and I also don't see/understand the fascination with it. Sure, I want to try it.....but Im not going to stress it if I dont.

This. I watched youtube videos of it and was really turned off by how loud it was in there and you're right, it seems like a cafeteria to me too.

BOG is like a shiny new trinket. Some are completely mesmerized by it for whatever reason. Others see the trinket for what it really is...a decent but certainly not great Disney restaurant with fancy packaging.

I chuckle to myself every time I see someone post that it's the best restaurant they've ever eaten at Disney (no offense to those people, btw, as I realize different strokes for different folks). I have to wonder if they're simply mesmerized by the "packaging" (congrats Disney, you achieved your objective), or they've just never eaten at any of the many, many better Disney restaurants.

We've been for lunch twice and really like it. If you are on the dining plan, it is a great use of a QS credit because the sandwiches are a little pricier than some QS places. The decor is gorgeous - it is like you are in the movie. It is also the only QS in MK that has free drink refills, which is a big plus for us.

The breakfast is so-so but the lunch is very good! The braised pork is very good and the lemon meringue cupcake too. You can refill you drinks and you eat in real plates with real silverware. The restaurant is beautiful and after you lunch you can go to see Gaston! Ah Gaston!

If the only reason you purchase hoppers was to hop to BOG, then I would drop that one. WE bought hoppers in AUgust, and honestly, we used them one time to go to Epcot to Via Napoli. My family generally hops around but Yikes! 9 Hoppers thime average $65 and I am suffering sever buyers remorse. Thi swas the first time we did nto go in an dout of the parks, so I wish that I had paid better attention to how we looked at the trip.

The original reason for the hoppers (first time ever buying hoppers btw and we haven't bought them yet, we have our tickets but planned on adding hoppers at the gate) was for MSEP. I havent seen it in over 25 years and neither of the 2 people going with me have ever been to DW. I started booking ADRs at around the 130 day mark and there was BoG availability for almost every day of our trip for dinner so I made a dinner ADR for out MSEP night.

Do I wans to see MSEP again? Sure. Do I want to go allllll the way to the back of MK (after a day at AK already) just to eat at BoG for dinner while fighting crowds to get there? Not so sure.

Literally, the only 3 things we were hopping for were MSEP, Wishes, and BoG. I can do without Wishes (but they've never saw it) and I can do without BoG since we also have a breakfast ADR.....so that brings the real decision maker down to MSEP. Do we want to pay $150 to see that parade? I'm just not so sure now.

Ive been to dinner twice, lunch once, and breakfast twice. Honestly breakfast was best in my opinion, with the first reservations of the morning. I found lunch to be loud, overcrowded, and underattended. I dont like the quick service feel. Breakfast is quick service but much less crowded at the early hour. Food was good, atmosphere wonderful, and we were out in a jiffy-- and while some feel it is pricey, it was definitely a value compared to going to CP or CRT. I join the "meh" camp for dinner. Not bad, but not great. Go for the experience but dont feel that you are missing out if you dont get in. Next trip we are repeating breakfast but it'll be a while before we do the others again.

as a complete lover of MSEP, I think I might keep your plans as they are. we've always gotten hoppers and sometimes in the planning stage it looks like we won't use them, but when a park closes early or things get too busy, I find it really nice to change gears. I guess it depends on how long your trip is and how much down time your group wants/needs.

BOG dinner is pretty good (and the cafeteria feel is much more a lunchtime thing, in my experience). it might not be the best meal in the World, but I think it's worth a try. but yeah, I would keep your plans as is--it's not a trip to WDW without the MSEP and wishes in my books.

I think that if you might use them even one more time, it is worth it then. BOG dinner is not BOG breakfast or lunch. It is not fine dining by any means, and it can be noisy...that place is huge and the acoustics magnify everything.

Here is what I would do, I think. I would check to see if I could book Narcoossees at a time that would coincide with Wishes, and if so, I woudl ditch BOG, watch MSEP on Youtube, and enjoy a great dinner and see WIshes from there. You can book a later dinner than at BOG because yo udon't need to leaave dinner to stake out your spot for the parade. I think it is a win win.

I would hang on to BOG for now, check to see if there are openings at Narcoosees, and even if you pay OOP, you are ahead of the game because you are not paying for hoppers. I tell you, I was not anticipating the resentment I had over those darn hoppers to get into Epcot. Yes, we saw Illuminations and had a really good dinner, but YIKES! We didnto get enough use out of them, ad as much as I am pretty open with vacation spending, I was not okay with this expenditure.

The restaurant is beautiful. The prices aren't too bad and the food we had at dinner was good. Certainly not the best we ever had at Disney BUT very good for a 1 TS credit meal. My girls were both 12 at the time and absolutely loved the atmosphere and meeting the Beast. We left full and happy with our experience.

Its the only place to get alcohol in the Magic Kingdom (dinner only, x2 drink maximum)!:drinking1

I thought it was a beautiful room
But that's it

Good wasn't special, atmosphere was school canteen like and service was awful

For us once and done

Like many other has stated, the decor and style are beautiful to experience for yourself. I went there for dinner once with my girlfriend, and we loved that aspect of it for sure. The food on the other hand, is good but nothing special. There are many signatures that have much better food and selections.

I'm in the " it's way overrated" group. We went for dinner and the food was just OK. It was loud and chaotic. I thought meeting the beast was the best part. The atmosphere is nice, we sat right by the " window" where it was snowing, very pretty. But it was a one time thing, won't go again.
