Just noticed from several recent posts all the parking charges from some of the Harbor Street Motels?
Which ones are charging and why?

I know Carousel charges $5.00 a day for parking. I wish they would just add it into the cost of the room. You feel like you are getting nickel and dimed. I feel that way about "resort fees" at the DL hotels too. :confused3What are ya gonna do!

The hotels excuse is that the charge is to prevent non hotel guests from using the lots and taking ART or walk to Disneyland. I don't buy that. In prior years many hotels issued parking passes for hotel guests. Cars without passes displayed could be towed. The charges are just a trend to get more money. Hotels in most resort cities nationwide seem to have such charges these days.

hmm, doesnt that just sound like the airline industry as well? :confused3

Amen to that. The airline we usually fly just started charging $15 to check a bag, each way. For a family of four thats $120. That bargain airfare isn't looking like such a bargain anymore. I guess we'll be taking advantage of laundry facilities on our next trip to reduce the number of suitcases we need.

I just returned from Desert Inn and Suites, and we didn't get charged...

candy cane inn doesn't charge either. They give you a parking permit to display in your windsheild

No charge at the HoJo, no charge last time we stayed at the Tropicana, no charge when we stayed at the BWPPI and no charge when we stayed at the CCI. We pay $8 a day at our timeshare hotel but they have mandatory valet and to be honest I like it that way. Their lot is TINY and the spaces are narrow, I wouldn't want to park in those spots myself. lol

Generally its the 3 1/2 to 4 star hotels that charge. Hilton, Sheraton, Marriot etc. 3 star and below mostly do not charge.

I've noticed the same thing...I think the hotels are trying to make whatever $'s they can now...too bad for those of us who need to have a car...

I just canceled my reservation at Sheraton Park because I didn't want to pay $12 a day to park the rental car for 5 days. We are now at the CCI--its closer and has a complimentary continental breakfast and NO parking fees! ;)

I noticed that Desert Inn now charges a $2.00 a day resort fee which they never did the last time we stayed there in 2007. It's nominal, but I would rather they just add it to the daily rate. It seems kind of misleading when you look on the website for the daily rates and then read on the bottom of the page about these "resort fees".
