is anyone else disappointed about the changes that they made with the mummy?

if you have no idea what im talking about, they changed the ride to that the mummy doesnt come out anymore, there is just a light on his face. they also say the whole speech that the guy says before you even turn the corner! :sad2:

i dont know if they've changed it since i've last been there (which was a couple of weeks ago) but it made the ride less thrilling...what do you guys think?

I KNOW!! The Mummy used to come down the stairs and speak...now it is just some lighted eyes on the tombstone thing. Also, the last time I was there the ride was not insync with the words. Hope it is fixed this weekend!!

Sorry, but I have to vent. You're like the hundredth person on this site to assume that's a permanent fixture of the attraction. It's getting just a tad bit tiresome. The projection is only there when the AA is broken, which happens quite often. They aren't going to scrap an expensive AA so it can be permanently replaced by a cheap projection. It would defy logic.

As F-L-A pointed out, the ride hasn't changed, but there is a back-up system in place if the AA character is broken or being worked on. The audio doesn't change, so I don't know why you think that's different

Not only that, but just because the animatronics isn't working when you ride one time, it may very well be working within minutes if you ride again.

Audio can misfire, per se, depending on a number of factors, primarily load/unload dispatch speed.
When the railcar moves over a certain strip on the track, the in-car audio is triggered. Similarly, when the railcar reaches a certain point in a show scene, the audio for that (or the next) show scene is prepared and activates according to the dispatch timing. The ride system keeps a constant awareness of where the other railcars are located, so railcars moving through the dark ride portion may go faster/slower depending on how far the car in front of it is. This, unfortunately, can cause audio to appear as "messed up."

the AA used to walk down steps? that's one heck of a leap in theme park technology. as far as 'that guy's speech' beginning before you turn the corner, that has a purpose. next time you ride, watch how many people in the car start turning their heads looking for where the voice is coming from.

They need to tighten the timing on that first scene. The last time I rode, a week ago, Reggie started talking way before we rounded the corner. You should be a lot closer to the sarcophagus when Imhotep pops out to get the full effect. Not a mile away. Plus, I was able to see the mechanism that connects to his back for the first time, which isn't good.

Yay Talking Box With Lighting Effects on it's Face!

I still miss Tech Rehearsal Reggie though..........

Glad to hear from you all that the Eyes on the Box are just a back up system because the Mummy taking that awkward step forward when he starts his "Silence...." speach is so much better! :goodvibes

I dont think I said the wording changed....I said/meant it just hasnt been insync with my car the last several times I have been on it. Or it sometimes seems to skip over words.

Whatever....still an awesome ride and one of my favorites! :cool1:

He's still around. He's in the same area, but you wouldn't be able to see him unless the ride e-stopped and your railcar was stopped by the animatronics.

Unless it was stopped? I'm pretty sure I've seen him back there, just by specifically looking for him. Unfortunately his most endearing ability, the ability to shake uncontrollably is off, which obviously makes sense.

If you know what to look for, then you might see him. When the ride e-stops, all the lights turn on to Full Power, which make it much easier to see things, such as the "Kong Rules" hat or the Scorpion King t-shirt.

I'm glad you posted that cause I was just about to go off. I am still trying to figure out why they changed Poisieden's Fury. The first version was by far the best if you asked me. I don't like when they change things unless it is to ADD to the attraction, please don't take away anything. But good informative post, I had no idea they had a back up system like that.

Yeah I don't remember any "stairs" either.

There is an effect on stairs. It's referred to as a shadow gag. Early in the first show scene, the music in the railcar hits a high note, just before Reggie starts speaking. On the left, there is a staircase and a shadow appears to be walking up it.
