What's up with Sci Fi?

When looking for ADRs you can't select any date for Sci Fi. I've never seen that happen before. Has anyone else? I have an ADR for our September trip but have been trying (unsuccessfully) to change the time. 50's PTC seems to have plenty of availability, but nothing at Sci Fi, for months now. But today I can't even choose a date to LOOK for availability. Weird. o_O

I have been trying also everyday for any day the first week of Oct. nothing is coming up anytime. Last time we went we just stopped by at opening for lunch and got seated in about 15 minutes. Might have to try that again, unless something is going on with the restaurant.

I have an ADR for Sci-Fi in October and found two additional times to switch it to today, so it may just be website screwiness for y'all.

I just checked and it's allowing me to check dates now. Nothing is available, lol, but at least I can "see" it again. I have a dinner ADR, so we're good, but I was hoping for lunch instead.

It's not like the Disney website ever has issues or anything haha.

Keep trying! For a while now, I was looking casually during the same week. Nada. Then just the other day, I snagged an ADR on a day that I wanted for a time we can work with. :)

We switched days around to squeeze in a Halloween party about 2 weeks ago, with about 30 days out. I had no problem moving 1900 pf, chef Mickey, but there were no times for sci fi for either of our HS days for lunch or dinner. I used touring plans ADR finder and finally got one a few days ago, so they are there. I just can't believe how hard it was to get, it was always a walk up place.

I thought about changing ours today for early Sept., and there were 4 choices available (party of 6). I was surprised by that!

I tried for months and months to get a decent dinner time at Sci-Fi for 5. Even using the touring plans app I was coming up empty. Finally yesterday I got the alert from touring plans and was able to snag a 5:25p on the day we wanted. Whew! We like Sci-Fi and all, but I don't remember it ever being that difficult to get a ressie there in the past...

I think part of my problem has been that there are only two of us. Disney dining does not seem to appreciate parties of 2. There have been times where I've found no availability but if I change my party to 4 there are openings. It drives me crazy, especially since Sci Fi tables seat only two people each anyway.

I didn't even think of the touring plans finder. I'll give that a try! Thanks!

I've been having the same problem with sci fi. Have a date and time I booked at 180 days , but now about a week out I want to change it. I've been checking for the past month and nothing. Checking three different days and flexible for lunch or dinner on those days and nothing. Never thought this place was so popular. I've moved character meals on this trip this late to open up chances for sci fi and still nothing.

I am having the same problem with SciFi. We are also a group of two! I put in a touring plans request yesterday, I have a bit over a month until we go so we will see what transpires. I just wanted to change our time. Lol

I'm also having problems looking for a ressie for the first week of October. We switched around our afternoon park and are ending the day in HS. I've always wanted to try Sci-Fi for it's fun atmosphere and I think the BF (who could eat burgers, onion rings, and a milkshake for every meal of the day :rotfl:) would really enjoy this place. I've been checking daily and have a request on Touring Plans so we'll see if it works out!

Sci-Fi has been my biggest headache. Booked dinner at 180, dropped it when plans changed and then when they changed again, couldn't find anything. I had success with TP res finder and scored a lunch time last week and flip flopped my dinner and lunch plans.

Keep checking! I had an ADR for our Sept/Oct trip but accidentally deleted it. It took weeks but finally got a reservation on an acceptable day. We are also a party of 2.

I am going to be cancelling a sci-fi for a party of 4 at 4:50 for Mon 8/29, if anyone wants it. PM me

I don't think it's overall Disney dining not appreciating parties of 2 since my husband and I get everything we want. However, we we've found with Sci Fi is that it used to be all six of the people in the car all were gathered together and then taken to the car as a "group". Now, the two of us have been seated behind a family of four (in the same car) when they were halfway done with their meal. We've also been led to a car and seated in the front seat and then had people join us in the back after we had already ordered. We've had the same thing happen at the Biergarten where, in the past, all eight people at the table were led in together but now, you are seated wherever there is room.

And before someone says "Disney just wants to make more money", I think it's because more people are making ADRs in various party sizes so they need to be accommodated. There are tons of times available for dining so the system just matches up what can be matched up for that time frame.

I'm not so sure. Even when making ADRs at 180 days out I've found that often, and not just at Sci Fi, as a party of two I'm offered early and late times, but if I look at a party of four all times are available. For example, I can book two for lunch at 11:00, 11:15, 2:00, 2:15. If I wanted an ADR for four I could get 11:30, 11:45, 12:00, etc. Not all restaurants are like that but I've noticed quite a few.

I think they would prefer a party of four, and twice the money, over a party of two. I can understand that, who wouldn't prefer double the money lol, but it's still frustrating.

We've tried many times to get an ADR on the day of or even heading over to Sci-Fi, only for it to say there are none. We will walk up and 9 out of 10 times, we've been able to get in and there are some open tables. Most of the time, we can't even find ADRs further out as many have said. Not saying walk-ins are always granted, but we've had the most luck there.

That's so odd because DH and I usually get everything we want (except for CG this trip).
