What's this about a young boy caught on camera playing with a gun?

Yes, the neighbor and the parents make me sick.

Years ago there was a disgraced politician from NE Penna. who was resigning due to a scandal. During his farewell press conference he pulled out a gun and started talking about killing himself.

Of course the reporters were horrified and begged him not to do it. But no one rushed up to wrestle the gun off of him and the cameramen kept the tapes rolling. Disgusting, distasteful. He put the gun in his mouth and committed suicide, all of which was captured for "film at 11." Of course, they cut away at the precise moment during broadcast..... but it still infuriates me that someone could have time to film such a horrific event but supposedly not have the time to try and save that man from death.

Actually Pam, I watched that situation unfold live (I was in the hospital recovering from the birth of my first child- almost 18 years ago) and the man involved pulled a gun out of a manilla envelope, spoke a few words (while everyone gasped) and as soon as someone rushed towards him he put it in his mouth and fired. I don't think you can compare the circumstances at all. The people in that room had no idea if he meant to harm others and had no time to evaluate the situation. They were filming him because he was making an important statement at a press conference.

This neighbor was not dealing with a suicidal adult, but a child who could easily be outsmarted. I think it is disgusting that the neighbor stood by and allowed, what they KNEW to be, a potentially dangerous situation continue.
