Is there one at BCV in the 2 bedrooms?? Also, what about a pancake griddle (or similar flat pan)?

Doing that "kitchen packing" thing right now:bounce:

Vicki, kitchen untensil knowledge is one of my weak points, but just thought I'd say have a great trip!....

I doubt they will ever have griddles, but, non stick, I was told was going to be the norm at all DVC's since Wilderness was built.
I would bring the SOS just in case.

I am not sure about all the resorts but at OKW the pans are NOT non stick. Many trips ago I bought an inexpensive. no stick fry pan to make breakfast with. (about the only meal we eat in the room) It is the first thing to go into the suitcase. Auctally we store it in the suitcase!

Thanks, Maistre Gracey. After this morning's weather forecast, I'm feeling a little better about the week.

I'll take the pan just in case. My husband thinks I'm kooky for packing so much.

I'm headed to BCV next week and am packing the non-stick fry pan. We like omelettes for breakfast!

Does anyone know if the BC store sells eggs?

When we drive we always take the over-sized analon skillet that is wonderful for non-stuff. Unfortuntely, we are flying down in December so I guess we will just have to have our "big" breakfasts out.

DoeWDW, we'll be shopping at Publix on Sunday morning, I can get eggs for you if you like. We wanted to do pancakes on our "off" day next week, but don't need a whole dozen. I'll be more than happy to share with you and can ask the front desk to store them for you.

VickiVM - aren't you sweet!! We're getting in late on Saturday evening and stopping at Publix. I didn't want Bell Services to try to get 2 doz. eggs to my room without breaking them....LOL!

I just visited the DVC member website and printed out the BCV grocery list and they do indeed list eggs - $1.25 for a dozen - so I'll just buy them there.

Hope to see you there! We get in Saturday evening the 28th and leave Saturday Oct. 5th. We'll be the ones living in the hot tub...LOL!! I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it!!

1) Many resorts are eliminating non-stick pans.
2) Coatings can come off the pans.
3) Digesting the coatings is harmful to some folks.
4) Liability issues abound.

Do the resorts provide frying pans or is it just normal pans you are talking about? I really don't want to have to pack a frying pan, but we do love our pancakes, so as long as OKW can provide the pan I have some stuff to line the bottom of them with to make them non-stick.

BTW what is SOS?

Yes, OKW has frying pans but they are not non-stick. SOS is the soap pads, like Brilo for scrubbing the frying pan after you have used it. They don't provide them in the condo. By the way, I cut mine in half so they don't get all rusty as quick since I basically only use them for the frying pan.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a pan problem.

The frying pan is the biggest problem with the kitchens. They are never clean and sometimes no matter how hard you try it never comes clean.
I hate to drag and pan with me from NY, but maybe it's the only way.

Do they make a disposable frying pan??

I use the mini SOS pads, one use, you toss them.
I bring my non stick griddle and microwave bacon rack with me every trip. Also, a spatuala for the griddle. They fit in the bottom zipped part of my luggage.

Vicki, you are too good, I haven't even started packing yet? I have so much last minute things going on at work before I leave for 2 weeks that I haven't even thought about packing yet. Well, I did bring the luggage up and have been trying to get all the laundry done so that I have something to pack... My husband actually told me I should just pack the dirty laundry and do it there since we will have a washer and dryer. I laughed at him, since I assumed it was a joke and he told me he was serious.

By the way, can you pick me up a dozen eggs too? ;) Just kidding, I was acutally thinking of ordering from the list that DVC provides. We are taking a town car service from the airport, and can do a half hour grocery stop, but I am a bit worried about some of the stuff like the eggs getting broke when we store the luggage before the room is ready.

we just returned from BCV . we are OKW regulars so I had my non stick pan with me . Quess what? I found many non stick pans in the bottom shelf below the oven.. hope this helps...dave:rolleyes:

YES!! That does help. I'm just going to take my pancake griddle and spatula and that's it (in the pan dept.). I already have one big box of paper products, plastic bags etc. and one big box of snacks - crackers, pretzels, fruit cups. Funny how everything in life revolves around food...those two boxes are the only things completely packed. And we drive out in 7 hours:eek:

Thanks everyone for your help on this board. We are very grateful for all the advice and tips. I don't think we would ever in our lives have this kind of deluxe vacation had I not hooked up on the DIS.

Terry S...see ya at poolside!! Have a safe trip.
