I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I needed to know what the weather is like in January. We will be there around Jan. 15th & I don't know what to pack. Do we need pants & long sleeve shirts, sweat shirts, or do we need shorts? I've read a few different things on different websites, but I thought I would probably find the most accurate information posted on the boards. Please, if you have any information, suggestions on what to pack I would greatly appreciate it.

PS
I will be traveling with my dd 6 yrs old & my ds 2 yrs old

I have only been to WDW one time in mid-January. I made the mistake of only taking 1 pair of jeans and no long sleeved shirts------I almost FROZE!! I spent about $50 on a sweatshirt and wore it and my only jeans every day!! This past year I was there the first week of February and it was jeans and short sleeve shirt during the day and a light jacket at night. Have fun!!

We went to Disney on our honeymoon in January.

The weather is nice with cooler mornings and evenings. We never wore jackets-but we did have sweatshirts and one day I wore a twinset. Jeans and long sleeves, a light jacket with tees or layered tees with sweatshirts would be ideal.

We did swim in the pool. It was outdoor but heated. (we stayed at Shades of Green)

We went last January for 10 days beginning the 17th. We did manage to swim a few times when it reached into the low to mid 60's or so with sunshine (stayed at AKL and WL; both pools were heated I believe). Most days, it was much cooler -- 60 or so -- and cloudy. So I would advise jeans and/or capris & long sleeves. I wore a windbreaker just about everywhere.

I will say we were there during a freakishly cold period that blanketed the whole US. We are returning Jan '09 and I'm hoping for a little more mercury in the ol' thermometer!! ;)

We were at WDW in January for our honeymoon 15 yrs ago and this year for our anniv. Both times we wore jeans and sweatshirts at times and shorts other times. This year we were down right cold a couple days. I was glad we were from Ohio and had my winter coat with me. Average high is 70 degrees, low is 48 degrees witha median of 60 degrees. So you may get lucky and get warm 70's but expect some cool temperatures!

Thanks for posting this question...I too am going in Jan 09 and was wondering what kind of weather I can expect :)

I think it can vary. It can be really freezing or you can luck out and have days warm enough to sunbathe - I think you kind of have to prepare for it all.

It's a fun time to go though, especially for me coming from Ohio. Ohio, I can assure you, is predictably yucky in January and it's nice to escape to Florida!!! It's sure to be sunnier!!:)

There is no way of knowing what weather to expect three months in advance. Winter weather is quite fickle here in FL that time of year. Be prepared for cold, and also for mild. Check the 10 day outlook before you pack.

I live 20 min. from Disney. One year it's warm, one year it's cold. It's Florida, It's crazy. If you from up north, it may feel "cold" to you. if it gets in the 60's here, were freezing, crazy, I know. I would pack jeans, short sleeves, and bring a sweatshirt, and check our weather. Best I can offer.

We went January 12 this year for 7 days and it was beautiful the kids where able to swim every day, it was a little chilly but we wore shorts during the day and jeans and sweatshirts at night. It was perfect. We are from PA and it was snowing when we left so anything was nice to us.

Yeah, we went Jan of 07 and I felt the same way- we ALWAYS go in Jan/Feb (are going again in Jan 09 as well) and usually there are some cooler and/or rainy days, but most of the time it's REALLY nice (shorts and waterparks). Then again, we're from the Northwest. So maybe it's just us. LOL

I have been to disney the past 4 years in Jan. I love it. Its the best time to go IMO!

I love the fact the parks are empty-- or very uncrowded, we love that the lines are short. And the weather is quite nice.

I usually packed pants for night, a jacket and i would pack shorts for the day. I love Capris so i lived in them, almost the whole vacation. It can vary...we stayed in our camper the last 2 years and one night we had the AC on, and 2 nights we had the HEAT on....it can change at any time (like my GF who went in Dec last year, and had to buy coats and gloves for the kids cause it was only 32degreese during the day). Just be prepared...
