What's the range of time you can use ADRs?

I remember reading somewhere that you actually have a range of time before and after your actual ressie. Is that true, and how early or late can you use it?

I hope this is true, because I'm just thinking with fast passes and stuff it would mean less worry about missing meals.

The usual response is that if you are more than 15 minutes late you will need to go back into the regular "standby" queue for a table.

No there isn't a time frame for your adr.

If your adr is 5pm you need to be checked in a few minutes before that time. If you are more than 15 mins late (15 mins after the adr) then they can refuse to seat you.

Your adr is infact your reservation time.

I have seen this happen and I have been subject to this.

It seems that I have read some posts that say your adr is just a suggestive time. Not sure where they come up with that it is not true.
Your time is your time. Be late and they can and will not honor your adr.

I vaguely recall Disney used to make reference to it being a 'suggested' time and not a normal reservation or some such in the past. More as a way to give themselves flexibility rather than the guest, tho'.

Disney suggests you check in for your ADR 20 minutes before the actual given time. Sometimes they will seat you earlier, but you can't count on it.

They also will give your table away if you are too late. We almost lost our table at the Kona Cafe, as we were 30 minutes late due to our cab not showing up. The only reason they held it, according to the CM at check in, was because the monorail was having transportation problems. And they assumed that was where a lot of the late guests were being held up. Not our case, but I guess we were lucky the monorail was having problems or our ADR would have gone poof!

You're welcome. Wouldn't want you to lose your table!!! UGH that is terrible when it happens.

Just want to make sure that you know that FP's don't HAVE to be used at their exact time. You can't go before they start, but you can use them after (within the same day, of course).

That's what I was going to say. A FP return time never needs to impact your ADR. Just use the FP later on, but show up on time for your ADR.

Thanks for the help! How long is a fast pass good for? Is it OK to come anytime after the fast pass time? (sorry to be so dumb - this is actually something I haven't really understood, and was just about ready to start researching) :goodvibes

You can use your Fastpass anytime after your return time on that day.

Looks like you have all your questions answered :) The only thing I'lll add is to make sure you give yourself enough time to get to your dining location. Disney transportation is wonderful, free and magical, however, it sometimes can take a bit longer than you might think, especially if you're going from one resort to another.

Have a great trip!!

I second the allow enough time for transportation especially if you are going to a different park/resort than where you are currently located. It took the full 45 minutes (or longer) that they recommend allowing for transportation to get to some of our reservations.

Its disney their rules are more like guidelines actually...

last week we were anywhere between 15-20mins late for most of our ressies due to outside the park traffic we didn't take into consideration (stayed offsite...never again)

But they were very nice and we got seated within 5mins of checking in (20-25mins after our ressie) with the exception of 1900PF breakfast. we were 10 mins late and they made us wait almost 40mins to sit... no one else was going in and the place was 1/2 full when we actually did go in.

For Chefs De France we arrive 1/2 hour early and they sat us at a window seat to watch illuminations (we had our engagement buttons too so that could have helped)
