What's the Noise Level @ Coral Reef Late in the Evening?

I keep reading about the noise level at CR, & we really detest loud restaurants. Our ADR is for 8:30 on a non-EMH night. Should it be a bit quieter by then? Our trip starts on Thurs., & I'm starting to think this wasn't a good choice.

TIA for your input. :flower3:

We had a late ressie there last Nov and the restuarant was noisy. Not so much in an annoying kind of way but more of just a hustle and bustle kind of noise. We didn't have to yell across the table or anything like that to talk to eachother. Also the restuarant at that time was dimly lit which helped in a way. It was like there was noise and organized chaos going on around you, yet you still felt like you were having an intimate dinner with your family - if that makes any sense.

Incredibly noisy. We were there three weeks ago. Wouldn't do it again.

We went two weeks ago for the opposite, a very early dinner (4:30). At the beginning of the meal I did not notice much noise, but as we were leaving it seemed to have gotten extremely noisy. Maybe by the end of dinnertime it quiets down again?

i don't know of any restaurants in the parks that aren't noisy. we ate at CR in 2007. while it was excellent, it was crazy. we had ADR's and still waited about 45 min to get seated. once seated, the meal was to die for, but it was still noisy!

When we do dinner, we eat at 9:00 or later. It's always been incredibly noisy at night there. We now only eat at CR for the first seating of lunch before the place gets too packed.

1) Yep.
2) Yep.
3) Yep.

NOTE; It is so noisy at times, the fish swim by and raise a fin to ask you be be quite. Or, at least I think that is what it means.

This doesn't sound promising. :sad2: I may be on a last minute scramble to find another place to eat. Thanks to all for the input, even though I was hoping for better news. ;)

Sorry to report that this was our plan (eating late, near park closing on a non-EMH night to avoid noise and lots of kids), and at 8:30 on a Thursday night it was incredibly noisy. And to add to that lots and lots of rambunctious kids with poor parenting--kids jumping on booths, climbing across tables, running down the aisles. And on top of it all, the food was not really good. Sorry to bear bad news. :(

On the upside, our server was wonderful, and the tank/restaurant itself is beautiful. I wish our experience hadn't been so bad, and so validated by many many other people's similar poor experiences.

It is incredibly noisey at CR for dinner. This is why we generally only do lunch here now. Since it's not a big bang for the buck for DDP, most avoid it during lunch. I think the noise reflects off of the glass making it twice as loud.

You guys have me seriously rethinking eating there. I may call & see what's available in the Boardwalk area after 9pm. CR is one of the few Epcot restaurants we haven't tried, so I'd like to try it. We just can't relax & enjoy our meal in loud restaurants though.

As others have said, try it for an early lunch sometime. Then you won't always wonder, and will avoid all the greatest noise.

We were there last week res at 8:10pm and was really noisy and quite cold! I was in a bad mood though as the waiter refused to serve me a glass of wine as I had no ID with me!!! I'm 37!! It's been a long, long time since I was asked that!!! :scared1: Food was nice though!

xx

It is an incredibly popular place INSIDE a themepark with LOTS of excite families and children.Add to the fact that sound echos off all the glass of the aquariums.I thought it was way too noisy ( and I have a small child) and the food was subpar.

Everytime we have been there, both during early dinner seatings, and later ones...it was VERY loud!

It is extremely loud in there, but I will eat there again. Our dinners were all very good and we had a lovely server.

You guys have convinced me to consider somewhere else. I think I'll call to see if we can get into bluezoo or Flying Fish after the park closes. We may try to get into CR for lunch Monday. Although, the odds of that aren't good. Oh well, there's always next time. ;)
