What's the most daring thing you've done?

I white water rafted w/o bringing lunch . We were supposed to stop for lunch, but they weren't providing it. I was starved. We eloped to Vail... that was pretty daring. We hot air ballooned there.

I went scuba diving in Trinidad and Tobago and came face to face w/ a Moray Eel (sp?). First they warn me about the Rock Fish and Sea Urchins, then they train me by telling me to kneel in the sand  . Anyway, I felt really uneasy looking at the world under my feet. It messed me up. And now that I've seen "Shark Week" a few times, no more scuba diving for me. My parents have gone shark and ship and night diving. Crazy.

I skied down a glacier in Austria during a white out squall where there are no slopes but just one big mtn top. No tree lines to follow.... but you had to try to find the little black circle markers to find your way down to the nearest town. I just prayed I'd make it to the bottom. Now that was FUN!

When I was very young (like 8) and fearless, my parents allowed me to take a small bubble helicopter ride in NH and they took me for a ride in a biplane who did a loop de loop w/o my seat belt. The story is my father grabbed me and pulled me back in. Or maybe that was their way of getting me to behave... or they wouldn't hold on next time :p. They also let me jump off a bridge and slide down a dam at a lake . Now we know that the grates at the bottom can catch your feet and hold you down til you drown. Guess they didn't know that back then. We had a great time, and luckily no one got hurt. So I guess now that'll be called daring... or stupid.

My DH and I took a trip to NH and Maine from PA on a Goldwing motorcycle. It was mostly cold and rainy and I begged for a hotel at one point. We took it up Mt Washington Rd during a very windy day, and I cried as the cycle was doing wheelies the whole way up due to the heavy load on the back end. No not me, the tent and sleeping bags and such. A helicopter was filming us and the other cars so somebody has a movie of me crying from fear the entire ride up the mtn. I wanted to get off, but we couldn't stop and I couldn't jump....no guard rails and a big drop. At the top I got sick in the bathroom and refused to go back down. Finally I worked up the nerve to get back on the bike and it was a nicer ride since the weight was uphill this time.

We climbed Precipice Trail in Arcadia in Maine which was high and straight up. Someone put pins in the mtn so one could cling to them like a ladder, and there were no guard rails. Truly exciting.

Lastly and the most DARING. My DH and I went out to Chicago to buy a High Flier.... one of those go carts w/ a parachute. Your feet dangle and you ride that thing around town and over mtns and such. That is the scariest thing I ever did.

Needless to say, we had 2 kids and all the toys got sold. No more bike or high flier. Now that I have the responsibility of 2 children, I am way too frightened to try anything daring anymore. The most daring thing will be going out on the beach in a bathing suit!

I went white water rafting and I went to Europe by myself for 2 and a half weeks.

Woo hoo!! :hyper: Me too, me too!! Last year, front seat, baby! It was worth the wait, especially since it broke down right after we got off and was on and off the rest of the day.:teeth:

Lets see, what else...I went on a hot air balloon ride, not very daring, but I AM afraid of heights and the takeoff was very difficult due to windy conditions.

I took my first plane trip, solo, from Ohio to New Jersey.

Ah, the things I do for love. :lovestruc

I'm thinking of going skydiving and I would love to go parasailing.

DH and I flew in a hot air balloon. We have birthdays 5 days apart and we did this for our 30th. It was wonderful!

Flew as a family two weeks to the day after 9/11 from Philadelphia to Disney World. :earseek: It was frightening, but once we got there we had a most memorable trip. So many special things happened, truly heartwarming and patriotic. I could never have done it without the encouragement of my DIS friends. Especially Dan Murphy, I just remember him really encouraging me to do it. He probably doesn't even remember that!

Summit Plummit at Blizzard Beach!! I'm very afraid of heights so that's a big one for me.

Walked on to Gettysburg battlefield in the middle of the night to look for ghosts. It illegal to go on to the battlefield at night! I didn't get caught & I didn't see any ghosts! Thankfully, either way I would have probably pee'd my pants! :hyper:

Safari walks in Botswana complete with elephants, giraffes,
lions, hippos and cape buffalo. The guide had a huge gun
but said he wasn't shooting any animals with it! Who or what
was he going to shoot!? It was a waaaay cool vacation. Spider
nests in our huts and all.

I've walked on the Jamestown battlefield's after dark. Don't tell anyone, shhh! Lightning struck a tree and split a branch. It scared me to death. I never did it again!

I went white water rafting and went to London with 200 high school marching band students.

I still can't sit through a football half-time show without getting cold sweats.

I joined the Marine Corps and proposed to my husband in the same year. Believe it or not, he said NO the first time. Two hours later, he said yes. Now I'm dating myself - that was over 20 years ago and he's a real keeper!

Bungee jumping. Oh and after college, I moved to Orlando from Indiana, by myself, with no job or car, with my dog. I lived there very happily for 3 yrs. :) Now, I am trying to get back.

Some very neat things here. And yes, Kallison, I do recall. And I was there 9 days after 9/11, recall those days well.

For me? Hmmmmm. Coming here every day?

My teen years would probably drive any mom nuts, it did mine.

Pipe bombs, which today, would certainly get me a prison sentence, fast. We built them and blew them up in the forests. And yes, regular pipe bombs, the kind that could kill you.

Laying on the hood, with another buddy, backs up against the front windshield, holding on to the wipers, on about a '60 Ford Falcon, while another buddy drove, on side streets (residential) at about 60 MPH. Don't ask why? I have no idea, seemed neat at the time.

Drag racing, American Graffiti style, every Saturday, at the local drive-in, Skips, on regular streets.

Siphoning gas from nearby construction equipment, as we were broke and had no gas money. Got arrested, parents had to do a juvenile court thing, or hearing.

And I could go on a lot. Teen years Dan was not old man DIS Dan, LOL. :)

As an adult, doing our one and only family WDW. I wanted it to be perfect. And it was. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Ah yes.....pipe bombs. My DH almost lost his left hand to one. My MIL and FIL had to sign permission to have his hand amputated if it couldn't be saved during the emergency surgery he had, one of several reconstructive surgeries he had as a result of that pipe bomb.

As for me...I was an angel!

I am a bit of a daredevil so here goes.

Bungee jumped 680 feet out of a ski gondola in the Swiss Alps.

Went skydiving at 15000 feet for my 21st birthday.

Have driven over the speed of 120 on numerous occasions (usually down I-5 to Disneyland)

Donned a wetsuit and a crash helmet and went "canyoning" in Switzerland.

Cliff diving in Hawaii.

Used to climb to the top of the berths where my grandparent had a houseboat and jump off the roof.

Scuba diving., Snow skiing, water skiing...

Like I said a bit of a daredevil.
