Caution to everybody on this week's podcast. Starting about 13 minutes into the show, be sure to put down all liquids and put on a very serious straight face so people won't think something's wrong with you.

I loved the comment about "can't you hear them dance?"

Looking forward to it!! :thumbsup2

This will be sort of an odd day for me...

I'll be listening to the Podcast at home. I usually listened at the office. :confused3

Also watch out at 44 minutes! Spinach in your eggs - yech.

Stuff the revision on the American Civil War, i'm listening to the podcast!

I nearly fell out of my chair when i heard todays Podcast. Women flashing Captain Jack Sparow, Pete's Rant, and and Pete's review of the Grinchmas Breakfast was Priceless. I remember Harold Melvin and the blue Notes, I grew up on them (Im only 40), But great show guys:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Just want to send a big shout out to Pete and his rant topic. I applaud your stance on that email you received. If we tolerate ignorance, prejudice or bias in any form, we take a step backward each time.

YEAH PETE!! :thumbsup2

And Kevin, box wine at the ballet... :lmao:

This was a long time ago.

In upstate NY we had something called the Saratoga Performing Arts Center or SPAC. SPAC is an open air thater or shed with lawn seating. It is the summer home of the NYC Ballet, the NYC Opera and the Orchestra.

They have seating in the shed and much less expensive lawn seating. We were poor and we had lawn seats. Picnicing was encouraged.

We had decided that we should take advantage of the culture that was right in our backyard, so one summer we decided to go to the orchestra (we fell asleep), the ballet (we got thrown out for talking during the dancing) and the opera....well thats an entirley different story.

We had never been to an opera before, so we bought lawn tickets to Tosca. The theater had been outfitted with something called "super titles" which are one of those scrolling signs you see under hotel signs that give additional info. The lyrics and dailogue were going to be translated into English for all of us that dont speak Italian. We thought this was our chance to see "art".

What they dont take into consideration is that it doesnt get dark during the summer until much later. we couldnt see the lighted scrolling sign as it was still too light outside.

We also didnt know that the female singer took a bow and got flowers after what seemed like every aria. We got up to leave every time they stopped singing and the woman behind us kept telling us it wasnt over, so we'd sit back down. Well, she apparently got tired of tending to us...so she eventually told us it was over, so we took our stiff and headed out. In truth, it wasnt over and she just wanted to get rid of us.

Needless to say...we didnt go back to the orchestra, ballet or opera

How unrefined of you!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Kevin for some reason, I had it pictured that you and your friend were dressed to the nines in a opera house, upscale theater setting, so the box wine seemed odd, but in an offbeat sort of way. But, in an open air theater on lawn seats, box wine seems entirely appropriate. Too bad some "stiff" had to ruin it for you. ;)

Kevin, the ballet story sounds exactly like something I would do. My parents have season box tickets at the opera and sometimes they drag me along, so I usually spend the entire time text messaging people on my phone.

The only time I've actually enjoyed going was when there was a naughty Disney-themed cabaret show afterwards... I don't even want to repeat the lyrics on here they were so bad, but I laughed so hard that I fell off my chair (which was one of those really high chairs on those really high tables) and spilled my soda all over myself. I started singing one of the songs on the way home and my mom almost smashed into a concrete wall on the highway, she was laughing so hard.

Inappropriate humor is funny... :thumbsup2

Kevin ... very good description. I bet you sat down with the "what the ... look. Tanglewood in the Berkshires on the MA/NY line has/had the same atmosphere for some concerts.

Pass the box wine ...

I got that same picture!!!!! I just figured the woman who yelled was ADD like me and could not pay attention to ballet when there were drunk people in the vicinity. I mean c'mon. If you were choosing between the two, which would you pick: funny drunk people, or ballet?

By the way, that was me being a devil's advocate. The comeback was priceless.

BTW, I like spinach (which is unusual for an Aspie)...just not in my eggs.
