...if we book a 2 bedroom at BWV for 6-7 nights, and then switch the res to a 1 bedroom for 3-4 nights? I know none of the 2 bedrooms are dedicated (I think I know that), so is there a chance we could just stay put in the 1 bedroom portion when our friends leave part way through the trip?

And, does it make a difference if we're in a std view?

There's a chance - provided you make that request. However, it can't be guaranteed.

You need to make sure that both reservations are in the same name. For example, when we stayed at SSR, we had a couple of days on an AP rate in my name and the points reservation was in my husband's name. They did not block us out into the same room because the reservations were in different names.

When you check in, ask if you can stay in the one bedrooom portion without moving your stuff out.
