Before we book the WOC picnics to snare FP's for WOC I wondered if you had visited recently - how long did you wait in line at the GRR fastpass machines to get FP's for WOC?

I know someone on here said that they didnt wait long at all and next time they would just line up - we are going 4/8 for a week so within the Spring Break hols but according to the DIS poll, not a 'peak week'. Last summer the lines were crazy at the FP machines.

Also a little nervous about booking the picnics and choosing a rainy evening - don't like watching shows etc in the pouring rain - been there and done that too many times in WDW (F! springs to mind last time!)

I was there Saturday at 9:45am or so and didn't wait but maybe a minute in the FP line. Later in the day you could just walk up, too.

I don't really see the difference in the sections. I think all the sections are too close up and too crowded to see the show well, unless you're an adult over 5'8" or a child sitting on shoulders or in the front row (and that is too close to me to see what the tall fountains/projections are doing).

By the way, the FPs say you will not be admitted before the time on the ticket but that was a lie Sat. If you want a rail spot, show up at least 15 minutes before the earliest time they say you're allowed to.

We were there on Saturday March 19. We got a FP at 11:45am and had blue section for the 9:15pm show. It said to line up 8:15-8:45. We got there at 8pm and there was already a long line. We got an ok spot for the show and didn't need a picnic package to get it. The show was ok, but I liked Fantasmic better.

In January it took my dh maybe 10 minutes to walk from right inside the turnstiles of DL out, to the GCH entrance, into GCH, get 6 WOC FPs, leave DCA before it opened (he said that was his favorite part) via the main gate, and meet us back in Fantasyland. In the meantime, we managed to walk to fantasyland and ride peter pan once!

We were there Sunday March 13th. We had breakfast reservations at Ariel's and after seeing the mob lined up to get to fast passes decided we would just do the picnic on another day. To my surprise about 3 hours after rope drop I headed to Soarin to get FP and saw they were still giving out WOC FP's. I got Blue for the 1st show! We did line up about 15 min before the opening and got a spot on the bridge. It was great! They were still passing out FP's for the 2nd show at around 4. I was so glad I had read so many threads here on the subject. Ya'll are the best!

Can anyone use the entrance into DCA from the Grand Californian Hotel? I was hoping to have lunch at Whitewater Snacks and then go in from there.

Grand California Hotel. On site guests can use a private entrance there that gets them in to get WOC FPs early.

You can do that. Bring your dining receipt with you.

Anyone can use this entrance after about noon. They only enforce DLR hotel guest usage first thing in the morning. And anyone can use it as an exit at any time.
