Hi guys, I was trying to find somewhere interesting and new to eat on the night of my bil's b-day which is during our next trip and I decided to try the hoop dee doo, I was wondering if some of you could tell me about your experiences there, and also if you thought it was worth the $$. The menu seems kind of limited, I was wondering if they have something else for kids. Thanks,
Kim

The HDDR is hysterical. It is a musical/slapstick type of comedy. The cast interacts with the audience. My son and husband were laughing the whole time they were there. We had a blast.

You can call the HDDR office and ask them if they have anything for a child's menu. I was able to get a green veggie platter as I can not eat corn on the cob.

I laughed the whole time. The only thing I remember eating was the salad. They do a wonderful job. We already are booked for our next trip. The first, and only, time we went, we were only two tables from the stage. We went to the late show (around 9:30) and everyone sat on the first floor. I have read that people are not too happy with the upstairs, but I cannot say.

All I remember doing is laughing and laughing and laughing.

Have fun.

We had a great time at HDDR! In fact, that's a picture of us at HDDR. I think it's worth the money. :)

I'll be the voice of dissent and admit that I didn't think it was worth the $. The show was fine, but I didn't find it anywhere near as hilarous as most others did. And the food was not particularly to my liking--not bad food, just very basic, simple, barbecue-type food at gourmet prices (though the strawberry shortcake dessert was heavenly). If you shudder at the thought of eating at Boma, it might be right up your alley.

I suppose I should also confess that we were upstairs, and that was part of my problem with the show. The upstairs is essentially a U-shaped balcony, with long tables lining the edges. But here's the part that baffles me--the chairs were in between the tables and the railing, so when seated at the table (all in one long row), we were facing away from the stage. If we wanted to see the show, we had to stop eating, turn around and look behind us. It was just completely illogical. The only thing I can figure is they were trying to avoid having people spill or drop things down onto the people below? :confused3 Whatever, it's just a really stupid design.

We went we were with our kids and I am sure that is why we enjoyed it so much! The kids laughed from the minute the show started till the end!
We thought the food was great from the salad to dessert (DH still talks about salad! nothing fancy but dressing was yummy lettuce crisp and cold- I am not a rib person and could've eaten them all myself!)

At first I thought it was a tad pricey but.... if you beak it down to dinner (not gourmet) and a really fun show it was certainly worth it!!! Going again on Oct 3rd!

Now I dont know if i would be raving about it if we were seated in the balcony, that doesnt sound so hot, we had a great table!

Have fun :dance3:

FANTASTIC! I have been twice and love it each time. The food is incredible and the actors are a riot. You can't go wrong with HDDR.
