What's the easiest way to buy an AP?

On my way to DL today from Seattle. Wohoo!!

We need to get an AP for our DD who turned 3 since we last attended. Can I just buy it at the ticket window outside the gates? Is there a better way?

We had gotten ours by upgrading a 3-day.

Thanks,
Tim

I buy mine on line, then when you get into DL you go to the processing center sometime before you leave to have your picture taken.

Just got mine last week! (YAY!)
Bought it at the ticket booths. It was super easy. I had like 4 Disney gift cards and then paid the rest in cash. Then they just give you a temporary ticket that allows you to enter either DCA or DL to go straight to the AP processing center. They sent me to the one in DCA, which is right inside the Greetings store right as you enter the park. It was all really fast and easy! & I love having it :)

Thanks everyone.

(patiently waiting at the gate in Seattle for my flight...)

I have another AP question (hope it's okay to hijack the thread a bit!)...

I'm going down in March with the Dis Divas, and will be going again with the family in November, so I am planning to get a Deluxe Annual Pass.
I see that most people buy a Parkhopper, then upgrade it to the Annual Pass so they still get a Magic Morning. My question is, if you wait until the last day of your Parkhopper to upgrade it, don't you then miss out on your 10% AP discount at some of the Disneyland restaurants?
I guess some people value the Magic Morning more than the 10% discount?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes you miss out on those discounts, and yes some people value the MM (which you won't have once you have an AP, unless you stay onsite) over the discounts.

OP, congrats on your little one being old enough to have her very own AP! We were SO excited to get DS his very own when he was 3. :lovestruc

Yep, and another reason people sometimes wait til their last day to upgrade is if there is a blackout day during their trip! For example, you're planning on going to the park Tues/Wed/Fri/Sat, and Sat is a Blackout day, upgrade on Saturday and they give you a "Blackout exception" card to use with your Brand new AP since technically you're still on a ticket. Our 'renewal' time is in May, but we usually just buy a new hopper and then upgrade on the weekend in order to avoid paying the $45 exception day fee. ;)

Oh, I was so busy looking at blackout dates for our November trip, I didn't even bother to look for blackout dates during the March trip! Thank you so much for pointing this out! That would have been a unpleasant surprise...:scared1:
